Carlos won it. He beat jude in the finals. It was actually 12 or 13 hours straight but who is counting since I only lasted about 10 hours and I could not take the back pain after bout 6 hours. Jerry won the king of the 9's and Mike beat Jason but they did not play the 8 ball part. Missed you there brother. It was a fun day.

Thanks for giving me the 411 brother and I would have liked to have been there.Carlos is deserving of his win and if I am a 9 so should he,I think he probably plays better all around then I do.

Carlos is the best 8 I have ever played against since I have been here in AZ as far as consistency goes. He makes mistakes like everyone but not that many and if you don't make him pay for his mistakes he will beat you all day long. I was very impressed with his play as well as the play of Mike Howerton. Mike should have been in the finals but I think he ran out of gas because he was playing all day non-stop and lost his last match to brady hill-hill and that was after midnight. I had to forfeit against mike at 3-3 cuz I just could not take the pain anymore. That Derrick kid should have been in the finals but he was pounding beer like water and came up short in his last match. Jude lucked his way into the finals but if he would have played like he is capable of playing then only carlos would have beat him and they both would have had only 1 loss in 9 matches. All in all it was a great tourney and Bullshooters is my new place to play. That place is incredible. Props to Jerry for putting in a 13 or 14 hour day there yesterday. There were a lot of people who contributed to the day being a success and I don't know their names but thanks!! Next time I am going to practice before and hopefully play better than I did yesterday. I had my moments but I was very inconsistent and I was in a lot of pain. I hope we can do this again soon.

Carlos may very well actually be a 9 skilled player, but I don't think he should be raised to a 9 just because he won the 8s all around...He may be able to dominate 8s but what will happen when he plays against 9s or 10s

Same thing for when I strip Jerry of his new found Kind of the 9s title....Will that make me a 10 when I take him down???.....I think not.

Beating 8s does not make you a 9 and beating 9s does not make you a 10

Lenny was raised shortly after claming the King'o 8s....Jack was raised to 10 right after taking the King'o 9s title....If Carlos is raised to a 9 for winning the 8s all around I may stay away from any king'o 9s event....I don't want to be raised to a 10 just becuase I beat 9 rated players...

IMO....Carlos should be invited to play in the king'o 9s round robin based on his win in the king'o 8s event....if he finishes well in that....then perhaps he should be bumped...

Jack should have been invited to play in the King'o 10s event to see how he fairs in that before being bumped to a 10.

Just an opinion from the weakest 9 in the valley o the sun.

BTW - Congrats to Carlos for the win

Hey man,I am the weakest 9 in the valley, haha.I was just saying basically that I dominated alot of 8's and because I was dominant got raised, kind of sucks being in no mans land.I could ask to get lowered at the next meeting months from now,why they dont have a meeting monthly is half the problem. If I ask to get lowered I look like an idiot after being raised to a 9 but what pisses me off is that I just play out of Kolbys mainly and enjoyed the 8 and under on Sundays.I just have to play into my rating I guess,I came back to NY and played in a tourney I used to play in that was a rated handicap tourney and was raised to a +1 from a 9 which made it tough for me but I did well in the tourney.

Not knocking your comment or Carlos....and you may be right from a current day comment, but you must have missed the days years back when these guys were 8 rated players.

Tony
Dennis
Evans
Paco
Watt (chat-ta-coon)
Pat ($$$)
Donny
Weasle
Steve (Rogers)
Jimmy (Rogers)

There are others but that is all I can think about right now.....(of course there is only 1 of those players that is still an 8 rated player)

First off, I am not a fan of rating's but Carlos is a 9. Carlos has way better control and consistency. Screw the king of the 8's 9's and 10's cuz I am sure that has nothing to do with ratings. Lenny never claimed the king of anything. He made a match with Brady and they played for it and then lenny played a few other weak 8's and was doing fine. Lenny never played a good or top 8 for the title. Jack was not a 9 and carlos is not an 8 so the king of the hill had nothing to do with it. Not to mention it was played on Bar tables with the biggest pockets I have ever seen. I have seen you play Ken and if I were you I would not be worried about being bumped to a 10 anytime soon. All of you 9's are a bunch of chumps!!! You guys never play each other for anything and just run your mouths. There have been many challenge matches and none of them materialize. Why don't some of you 9's play and stop all the talking???? Put some money up and play for it!! No more running your mouth unless your going to play!! The only thing I see 9's running are their mouths!! Set up a match and play it and show us your skills instead of always jumping into the 8's threads and tourneys. And if you cant find anyone to play you I will practice for a week or two and I will play you.

I have played many of the 8s on here and have taken the cash,King of the 8's had to start somewhere so I got it going, not proclaiming myself but having a fun challenge with Brady and then Tim wanted in and then it was your turn.I did want to play Mike Howerton,Jude, and also Jason Crugar for the title.I would say Tim was my toughest opponent by far and his skill is probably close to Carlos.I would have kept playing whatever 8 for the title until I lost it and it was fun for me but now that is over, time to play some 9's I guess.I would like to see some 9's match up,perhaps Ken Gouso aka BRKNRUN vs my buddy Steve H who played Jack, then perhaps the winner of that can play Jerry or something.I would just like to know who you think are the best 8's in the state since all the guys I played were in your opinion weak and not even good 8's,Carlos is the only one but I already knew that, who else is there.

I would say I was dominant against you,Brady,Ken Cotrell,Al Terpstra, that is just people on the forum,I have played lots of 8's in Kolbys and took the cash.I am not trying to be a braggart but you asked,I will play you again in an all around format,9 ball is the only game you truly will have a chance in,its also the luckiest.Well I will be off for the day, will be flying into AZ tomorrow,we can play this week if you like. You know this all in fun I hope. :)

You were not dominate against anyone. You run 3 and 4 ball outs and cant play shape very well. The way you play 9 ball it is luck lenny. You crap in balls and go for the 9 combo as often as possible. I do not play that way. You had 4 or 5 early 9's against me and 1 or 2 on the break. Besides I don't even play so beating me aint nothing to talk about. If we played for a few hours I would beat you in any game Lenny except 1 hole and that is only because I never play it. You beat me 5-3 in the 1 hole so I do not think that is dominating. We have played 3 times and you won the first time cuz I was giving you a game on the wire to 5 and you were a 7 and it went hill/hill. The second time we played you were an 8 and lost. Then the challenge match and I did not play well but to say you dominated is the funniest thing I have heard all year! If we play now you have to give me the 8 in a tourney and you have no chance giving me the 8. We can play when ever you would like to play and we can see if you dominate. I am not interested in playing only 1 set. Put up some money for 5 sets minimum and we can play or if you want to do an ahead set I am cool with that too.

Unfortunately Ken, the ratings system is not what it used to be. Which is why i continue to go back to the fact that it needs an overhaul and some serious change. Maybe someday it will happen, or maybe it won't.

On another note, if Lenny gets raised to a 9 for winning the 8 all around, it only makes sense that Carlos gets raised as well. There has to be some fairness. I'm not saying either of them are 8 or 9 speed. Quite honestly, i haven't seen Carlos play enough to rate his game.

Let's see what the committee does here.

Carlos and Jude would beat you for sure but you if play 1 set and quit that will not prove anything. The only game you have any chance in is 1 hole and that's just because you play it all the time. I will play for 2 weeks and then we can play for what ever you want to and if you beat me I will shake your hand and give you the $$ but you did not dominate anyone and for you to say that is crazy. You won your matches but you did not dominate anyone.

How can it be an 8 all around when we only had 10 of us and we were all from azbilliards.com. It was just something we all put together for ourselves to play in.

10 hours on friday and around 11 hours of pool on saturday. i did not represent myself very well at all. this was a hell of a lot of fun anyways. next time i wont win a 32 person tournament the night before haha. i blasted my way through the field of 8s. does that make me a 9 ? no it doesn't. all in all it was a great experience. next time i wont be falling asleep between matches and we will see who comes home with the cash. i would like carlos to stay an 8. he was only player i didnt get to play. i'm coming for you carlos!! this is far from over. i give him credit he did prove who was best.... that day. peace fellas

I would like to see carlos stay an 8 too. You are right when you say that he proved who was best on that day. Unfortunately I think if we did it all over again he would still win it though. He was more consistent than anyone else was and carlos never stopped playing.

mike and i werent playin "our " match . him and i can double the bet in both our sets if he likes or i will take side action if anyone still thinks mike can win. i was out of gas halfway through my match with justin. which was my second match. mike plays good don't get me wrong. after watching him play at bullshooters i know he has no chance now. btw the finals should have been derrick and carlos. if derrick wouldn't have gotten drunk like a donkey he would have been walking home king. he beat carlos 9-4 or 9-5. not taking anything away from carlos he did his thing and won good job buddy i look forward to playing you again. well not like we had to play at rr lol
