Now for the, "other side of the coin!"
In, I believe 1943 or 44, The World 3 Cushion tournament was played with the, "Optional Cue ball" option. This means, the incoming player has the option to choose, "either cue ball," for the first attempt in that inning. If a point is scored, the player continues shooting with the, "same," cue ball he used to score the 1st point of that inning.
Welker Cochran won the event averaging, 1.35, Willie Hoppe finished 2nd with an average of 1.36.
The incoming opponent has the, "same" option as the previous player for his first attempt in that same inning, "optional" cue ball.
If the player misses on his, "first" attempt in the inning, his opponent's turn starts his turn for that inning, with of course, "optional" cue ball for the 1st shot of the inning.
This poll is to see how many members would like to see an, "USBA" sanctioned "optional ball" tournament.
