Wow just saw Efren beat the 2 time defending champ hill hill.Good to see Efren doing well in the US open, being a huge Efren fan,who would like to see the legend take this down?
I WOULD He still amazes me.

I would! What a capper to a wonderfully long illustrious career! And -- someone fact-check me on this -- I think Efren would tie his friend Mike Lebron's record as being the oldest to ever win the U.S. Open?

Or would he take that record down?

I'll go for three in a row with Darren. Don't get me wrong, I admire Efren but I feel Darren among others represent a new era of pool players. None of the all time greats will ever be forgotten, but this time I'd like to SEE(lol ;) a great record!

Go pool!

I would! I've been enjoyin' this magical game for a long time and there's nobody I'd more like to see than Efren win this tourney! Arguably, the greatest all around player of all time. I have to admit, it was hard watching him struggle lately. He still, at 58, has an incredibly high gear. I just hope he doesn't get tired...

I would rather see Efren or Earl win it. That could at least make headlines. Let's face it...the rest of the field is boring by comparison.

There will be pool players in the future that are envious of us that got to watch the Magician play live. We really don't know how good we have it.

If the Hall of Fame were started today, Efren would be a first year inductee along with Strickland, Mosconi, etc.

He has proven himself on the table and off the table as a master pool player and a class human being. Always courteous, always smiling.

So yeah... I root for the Magician.

The safety play in that match, especially the escapes and return safeties, was just phenomenal.

I have to hand it to Jimmy spotting that final 9 ball kick and carom before Efren shot. He said "watch the 9" and sure enough Efren made it.

I would love to see Efren win a major again and I believe if not now, it will be soon enough. He may not be as good as he once was, but Efren at 80% might have " just enough".

Earl and Efren in the finals, going hill / hill. Hollywood couldn't set a better stage than that.
Go Earl'ren!

Efren and Earl in the finals could make the newscasts. Not the entire match, of course; but a short segment about how two of the oldest players in the game battled it out for the US Open. Could be great publicity.
