So who would you take out of team Philippines to throw Parica in? Tough choice. I might take Bustamante out if someone put a gun to my head. Manalo, Orcullo, and Pagulayan are just too hot right now.Nick B said:These things go in cycles...maybe the Germans could do it right now. Hey when did Jose become the village idiot? Any list has to include him. Ditto for Earl (in this format).

There use to be a World Team Billiards, but was only held once, what happened to that?
In one of the more recent Taiwan Green Cups held in Taiwan, where its the Taiwanese players vs the rest of the world, I remember even superstars like Efren Reyes could not defeat the Taiwanese second stringers.f210 said:Yes they could, but I would not put my money on that. I remember right after the World Championship, the top Taiwanese players like Chao, Yang, Kuo, Chang and Wu went to the Philippines to play against the 2nd stringers (then) namely Manalo, Orcullo, Kiamco, etc and they (Taiwanese) were beaten pretty handily. And this was WITHOUT Efren and Busta!!! Now Manalo and Orcullo are rising superstars of this sport and have gained the experience and confidence in joining a lot of tournaments in Asia and the US. So the Filipino team is really a force to be reckoned with.
sjm said:Let's see, guess we're talking Manalo, Reyes, Bustamante, Pagulayan, and Orcullo as Team Phillipines.
...
The only country with a shot at Team Phillipines would seem to be Germany, with Souquet, Hohmann, Engert, Ortmann and Roschkowski a team to be reckoned with.
Maybe two or three months ago, I would have said that Team Philippines would win at every pool discipline except for straight pool, since straight pool would definitely go to the Germans.sjm said:The only country with a shot at Team Phillipines would seem to be Germany, with Souquet, Hohmann, Engert, Ortmann and Roschkowski a team to be reckoned with.
Orignal members of Team Philippines were Efren, Django, Amang, Boyet del Rosario and Edgar Acaba. They later on substituted Andam and Luat for Boyet and Edgar.hadjcues said:I think it was a decade ago or so... the Philippines went up against Team USA havin Davenport, VArner and I forgot who else... against the PI's Efren, Jose Parica and some that slipped my mind... it was a game of 9ball shot clock billiards... the Philippine team won.

I think Team USA then were Archer, Varner, Sigel, Davenport and Rempe.

Still waiting in the wings that can possibly join the Phil. 1st team are Ronnie Alcano, Warren Kiamco, Antonio Gabica, Nikoy Lining, Gandy Valle, Jerome Pena, Carlo Boado, Joven Bustamante, Allan Cuartero, Russian Ceniza (watched him beat Sambajon with Santos getting the wild7), Victor Arpilleda, Deo Mark Alpajora, Jeffrey de Luna and a group of 16&17 year olds who play a ball under in money games against these guys.
Whoops! I forgot about the recent winner of the Bankok leg of the Asian 9-Ball Tour, Ramil Gallego!
