Who would win - USA pros vs. Phillipines pros

Against the USA? Hell, I'd take them against the rest of the world and lay a price. If you increase the size of each team to ten players, the filipinos have an even greater advantage. My guess is that 25 of the top 50 pool players in the world are filipino.

Actually, the Chinese are probably the next strongest country today after the Philipines.
One factor that most fail to realize and I've never seen mentioned as a reason for a Filipino pros' high level pool playing ability is geography. The Philippines is such a small country, barely the size of California, that all the good players just converge in Manila. Nobody here is considered worth taking notice of until they can hack it in Manila. Can you imagine all the good players within 20 miles to each other and just go at it after setting up through mobile phone. Also, subconciously, the internationalists are very open at teaching the new things that they've learned from a recent trip.

I cringe to think "What if the American pool pros all live in a tiny state like Hawaii and the structured, technology supported training is made available to them?"

That's Dodong DIDAL not Vidal, Jhun. One Side is a Japanese owned ph and is everybody's battleground for wages from 4-low6 figures. Low6-low7 figures are held at Bugsy's Lair.

Thanx for the correction Edwin.

I had 1 nite to go out and watch and One Side was the nearest. I'll checkout Bugsy's Lair next time.

As much as I rate the Fillipinos I have to Support Europe here, the level of competition on the Euro Tour is stunning and its no coincidence that Europe dominates the world rankings (albeit a flawed system). The likes of Immonen etc struggle to make an impact on the Euro Tour its that strong, think slightly below US Open field 7 times a year. Chamat won the recent event in Austria and I'm told that he often comes away with the cash when he visits Manila, very few do of course.

PS
This will probably raise a few eyebrows but I'd take Ronnie oSullivan against Efren LEFT HANDED at any game, including rotation.

We'll see at the World Pool Masters - Sullivan better than Efren

I hope Ronnie and Efren face each other in the WPM so we would know for sure. If he is that good that he can beat Efren in ANY game even playing left-handed then he should not have any trouble at all beating everybody in that 16 man field in as much as Efren has beaten all of them in the past already. Also, if he is that good, then he should be at least in the top 3 of the next IPT tournaments. I guess we just have to wait and see. I do respect your opinion though.

I wouldnt go that far, But I think he's better than anyone in the world with both players playing left handed. Still think he'll struggle at 8 ball and 9 ball for a while though (to win comps I mean)

Isn't Ronnie O a natural Left Handed?..

Not really, he's right handed but would have been funny. Its been said he would be top 16 player in the world with his left hand though

Jones would shark his own teammates.
If they did Dutch team, somehow the Filipinos shoot much better.
They almost know each other's pattern. Check that Efren-Busta against the Taiwanese partners video .

I remember the team of Efren, Busta, Andam, Luat and Parica running over Sigel, Varner, Strickland, Archer and Davenport.

Thanks so much for the link! I loved the size of the crowds, the fact that there were so many women there, the Starbucks :p , the shanked shot Busty had which resulted in a slop, the great kick safe that Efren replied with, and their bickering over the missed draw shot...just like me and Mike playing SD!

Then it is sort of returned when Efren plays for a combo and I think Busty was asking him why he did that. Can someone translate???

I'd put my money on Ronnie O playing anyone left handed, when he plays left handed his potting ability doesn't suffer one bit. He is just as comfortable playing left handed as he is with his right.
