Who Would You Choose????

I live close to S.F. Billiard Academy....About 1 hour and 20 minutes.....My friend and I are thinking about getting private instructions from one of the instructors....The problem is that we don't know which one to choose.....
Does anyone out there know of this Academy and of the instructors and can give us some suggestions???? Here are their names.......Joseph Mejia....Bob Jewett....Eric Harada......Of course we have heard of Bob Jewett but wonder if anyone has used him or who would you go with????

These guys had a clinic a couple of months back, which I attended. They are all very good, and the clinic was well worth it. If you were getting private instruction from only one of the guys, I believe Eric and Bob are more accessible than Joseph. I think Joseph is busy with a lot of other things as well, but Bob and Eric are at Shoreline Billiards all the time.

Eric is a personal friend of mine, so I might be biased, but I'd suggest him. But Bob is also very good, and I have to say that at the clinic, I particularly enjoyed his parts of the clinic. PM me if you want more info.

Of those you mentioned...I know Eric Harada the best (even though I haven't seen him in years!). And I would highly recommend him as an instructor. He is a skilled player...and a very patient and kind person. I have not personally taken lessons from him...but if I lived in that area, I can guarantee you that I would!

Hi, I have taken lessons from both Bob and Eric. Either are fine choice ... all depends on what you want to achieve from the lesson.

Bob, as you may alway know, is very theoretically in his approach. He is, in certain way, a living version of the articles you may have written. He is a scientist after all Bob plays with short compact stroke with short and tight billiard bridge.

Eric is more "players" in his approach. He would be better suited for strategy stuff. He has *old school* high stance with shooting grip near the balance point of the cue and has the softest and smooth stroke.

As Suckershot (who should take A LOT more lessons) pointed out, both Bob and Eric are based out of Shoreline Billiards in Mountain View. The place has many nice Brunswick Gold Crown tables.

Why not consult with them and let them tell you your best options. I know all of the Instructors mentioned and you can't go wrong with any of them.......SPF=randyg

I play in a 14.1 league here in the Bay Area and have played against both Eric and Bob. Both are great players and have to spot me a lot of balls. I enjoy playing either of them because I always learn something watching them play pool. In terms of style, Jazz hits the nail on the head. Both have great old school fundamentals (which I try to emulate) and both can run a lot of balls. Either would make a good teacher depending on which style you prefer.
