Whoa...that's different!

I think it looks awesome. A little tweaking here and there with the colors and it'll be perfect. Change is good, for most people. Good job Erik. Peace, John.

I think it looks awesome, too!! But I've noticed a couple things. First, why does Rude Dog have two little green boxes under his name? Is he on a doubly distinguished road or is he just at a fork?

Second, I've notice we've lost the dates and times on all the individual posts. Sometimes on my computers all the posts go "read" and I use the posting time info to read the ones I've missed. Is this going to be permanent?

It has to do with how much reputation one has. That box has moved also. On the new skin, it's on the lower left hand corner.

No, of course not ;), but do try to give the new theme a solid try. Change may be hard, but we are making modifications to the new theme based on what suggestions people have, so it's still evolving...

Plus, if most people just switch back to the old theme, suggestions will be limited and your input won't be heard...

The next thing I'm going to look at changing is the location and placement of some elements of each post, like the avatar, etc. The complaints about too much white space have been heard.
As long you don't come back with this...

As Marissa said, it's reputation stuff.

They're in the top left corner. "Today, 02:49 PM" for example. Also, if you click this button:
firstnew.gif
on any of the topics listings pages (like this one, you're taken to the first post since your last visit automatically.

Ugh, don't remind me. 34 is "mid-thirties", right? :(

A convenient tool missing

I've lightened the background to #eee; - that's about as close as you can get to #fff (white) as you can get.

I'll gladly hear any other suggestions y'all have.

Please do give it a chance. It'll grow on you, probably.

P.S. Plus you can do neat things like collapse posts. Click on this icon to give it a try:
collapse_thead.gif

I really liked the old way in that when people posted ,the date and time was listed with their thread, that makes it much easier to know the threads you missed or have already read. You have to read parts of all threads to tell if you already read it.

Title Bar

I agree. How can we tell when each post was made? This is terrible.
By looking at the date. Yours says "Today, 03:31 PM."

If you'd like the date MOVED somewhere else, please say that. But the date is right there... top left, just above your username and just below the "title bar" for each post.

not on mine, i see no date or time

So none of you see what I'm attaching in this picture? (I'm not asking if you see the picture I'm attaching, of course, but whether you see or don't see the time as you can see in this image. It's a screenshot of my earlier post...)

I know what the box stands for. I just want to know why Rude Dog has 2 of them and everyone else has 1.

And I don't see the posting time in the top left corner. I did when I was typing a reply to your post, but not after I posted it. Wierd.

Because he has a higher reputation. If you are really bad, you get a low reputation and you get a red little dot. As you get higher and higher, you collect more green dots.

I see it,but it says 4:31 and not 3:31. Btw,I left around 10:45 to go play poker and just got back home five hours later and nothing looks any different than before I left (or yesterday or before that). What's different ?
It obviously depends on your time zone...

Guys, I see a time (and a date) on every post. I'm willing to investigate, but "I don't see it" doesn't get me any closer to understanding why some of you apparently see it and some do not.

Please contact me via AIM to discuss this if you'd like. I'll get to the bottom of it, but I need some help.

Aha! Non-moderators and non-admins apparently don't see it. I'll see how I can resolve that....

Those threads of yours or jimmy m do not show any times on my computer.
the picture you show does, but that does not show that way on my computer.
I meant to answer quicker but my wireless signal keeps going out

If only some are seeing the date it mus tbe some kind of setting. I do not see the post date on any posts. I do see where to look by you image though. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know, I will be here in front of the boards for a while.

I'm working on it. I have another user (named "test") that is not an admin, so it seems to be related to that. I expect to have it fixed shortly.
