Cast your vote for who you think is going to win the Sigel/LJJ match?

I think Sigel all the way.

personally i think it is a joke cuz ther is no way she can beat Mike. But i think it will go to a set each then Mike will win the 3rd set. They gotta keep it interesting for the public. And nobody is going to keep watching if Mike beats her 2 straight sets. so why not let her win a set to keep it interesting......................jmho............mike

I have all my Vcash on Mike beating her 2-1. The only reason she will get one set is because Mike is going to want to make it interesting to promote the sport and therefore give her a match. If he smokes her 2-0 it will be boring and he wants to make it exciting. At the same time he is not going to lose because if the game is actually going to come back full steam you can expect Mike to want to be in the limelight again.

love the avatar

i agree with cueball 1950..i think its all about the money not so much for them, but for the promoters..they have to make it entertaining, especially if they want any type of future for some upcoming events..both players are entertaining to watch, both know the game well, both have been there done that, it has the makings of being semi entertain even if the outcome is semi predictable, what would be interesting is how they came to choose them to play over other greats past and present. anyone know what the odds are..i like the underdog most the time, but in a battle of the sexes as its being labeled Mike's the man..no disrepect to any woman intented, as im sure most women are for LJJ, its the hype they have hoped to build to indice us all to watch..

I gotta love your avatar. i have my own Boston Terrier here at home and what a character he is.........................................mike

That's why I didn't want to place a wager on this! IMHO she has no chance to win a set, but for the tv viewing audience ????????????

Does everybody think this is going to be a REAL match? How were these two picked? Didn't I read someplace that Sigel is a friend of Trudeau's? Are these two really going to be paid $150K for first and $75K for second? Or are they simply business partners who will then roll the $150K and $75K back into the enterprise? I'm not knocking it if that's what's going on: hey...if it promotes the sport and gets bigger prize money for the pro's and gets more people into the pool halls, I'm all for it. Just wonderin, tho, if this match is really for real. Anybody else wonder?

Maybe the match's for real, maybe it's planned. Either way, I don't see how Jones would have a chance at beating Sigel. Ability wise, Sigel's probably much better than Jones (no offence, but I dont' think they're in the same league). If the stories about Sigel's ego are true, I can't imagine Sigel would allow a faked match where he would have to lose to Jones.

Mike will win, but LJJ is no slouch, I have seen her play 9-ball in person a few times and she could run out a set of 8-ball in a winner breaks format all she has to do is win the lag and have worked on her break for the last month or so, if she pockets balls on the break she could take a set for sure.

But in the end Mike wins hands down, but this is certainly less a match and more a promotion that will be fun for the viewers to watch with lots of talking and one liners. It's the "kick off" of the new IPT to create a buzz, and promote the idea of men and women competing since the tour will not be restricted to men only. I'm sure Mike and LJJ will both compete in the upcoming 8-ball tour as will many other retired players that will all of a sudden come back into the sport. hmmm has anyone seen Balukas lately?

Good Idea

I think it is a great idea to keep the match close. For one reason, it will keep the non-pool-players from thinking its a game of skill like anyone can win. Thats exactly what happened in the World Series of Poker, whenever Chris Moneymaker won, it attracted all kinds of attention.

I saw Mike play in Japan in the big 2001 event. He was struggling and missing some pretty elementary pots.

Though, I suspect he can pick his game up with a bit of practice.

I think he talks a better game than anyone I've ever met :p
