Who's gonna win?

Is ...

Wu going to be in it? Richard, oh Richard, confirm this please. Wu being in the IPT would sure cause a stir, and many discussions on here.

If Wu is in the qualifier he must be the favorite.I also think he will get the cash bonus for running a 6 pack.
The fields they have been getting in these qualifiers are super tough.

I can't wait until next year when most of these players will qualify and the bottom 50 of the current IPT tour will be long gone.

The Hard Times qualifier looks like it is gonna be the toughest field of all the qualifiers by quite some margin. If Wu does indeed participate (not confirmed yet) he has to be the hands down favorite to win a spot, I would also like to see the young Hungarian Foldes make it in, but considering the field it looks like he his best opportunity escaped him in Georgia. Roman Hybler was named, he is a relatively unknown player from the Czech Republic that could be a good darkhorse if he is indeed playing.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see one of the filipinos Orcullo or Alcano end up winning a spot, there are so many great players I really don't think anyone will be surprised reguardless of who earns their spots.

Just a question on the equipment. What tables and pocket sizes were used in WPC? And at Hard Times, will they be shooting on 4-1/2-inch pockets and slow cloth?

JAM

Extremely strong Filipino contingent...

Ramil Gallego
Antonio Lining
Dennis Orcollo
Warren Kiamco
Santos Sambajon

What happened to Ronnie Alcano?

Also, nice to see Wu on the list. They should give out 4 cards for this qualifier alone.

I'll be rooting for all of the UK players:

  • Karl Boyes
  • Richard Broumpton
  • Rob Chilton
  • Tony Crosby
  • Perry Foster
  • Imran Majid
  • Chris Melling
  • Daryl Peach

OK... Broumpton and Crosby have US passports now, but we still support them like Brits. :D

You could take the players from this qualifier and make a second IPT tour, and that would be from top to bottom a stronger field than the original 150 players that were selected.

Watch out for Chris Melling he's a monster.

I can't say I'd disagree if the statement was take the 100 best of all the qualifier entrants and add to that 50 hand picked players from Taiwan and around the world who are great players...AND that field played the 2006 IPT field, the former would probably win over the latter.

But then again, some people would say the same could be done with the PGA.

Not sure that's true. But the 2006 IPT list is gonna be a pretty strong field and it's just gonna get stronger. It had to start somewhere.

Oh, and btw. My picks are Wu and Melling. But there's some mighty tough competition.

Thanks Terry but, unfortunately, I had to withdraw. I've had an ear infection that lasted for 2 weeks and seemed to eat the antibiotics I was on for breakfast. I was able to get in to see a specialist yesterday and, to make matters worse, there has been some, albeit not as bad as it could be, permanent hearing loss. I've lost the ability to hear some higher pitched sounds. The doctor told me that the hearing loss could have been something that started prior to the infection but that the infection certainly didn't help. I told Meiko that the next time she wants to yell at me about something to do it in a really high-pitched voice. :D

That field looks super tough. I'd like to see a couple West Coast'ers (I'm including AZ in that) win spots. Whoever qualifies out of that field has definitely earned it.

Alcano didn't make it?

Gabica is missing as well. Maybe he was not as lucky as Orcollo in getting that coveted US Visa. Dennis must be in heavens as he finally got his visa.

From looking at the list of players, this is a mighty strong field.

Go pinoys!!!

Thinking about it, can I endorse my US Visa to Gabica? :D

Damn Jimmy, I've been looking through the players list all day and couldn't find your name. Now I see this post! That really sucks. Well, get better dude, pool will always be there. I'll talk to ya soon. Peace, John.

Santos lost this afternoon to Arturo a well known local player. Santos looked tentative but also didn't get any rolls.
