Who's Got True Mason Micarta

Is there fake Mason H micarta?

Yes, there are people trying to pass off certain Micarta as Mason's. I will not name names, and plus some people are not aware that they have something totally different.

Just looking for the real thing because I know I like it and don't want to spend the cash on something that may feel totally different.

Oh boy.

If you're looking for the ivory colored one Mason sold while he was here, it's going to be really hard.
The new ones have that greenish/yellow tint and do not cut as well as the one Mason sold while he was here.
It's really linen-epoxy by NORPLEX. I forgot what the RTB number is but won't look it up now.
Since Mason was the first person to offer it ( and discover it for pool use ) it's been named Mason Micarta.
I'm gonna steal it and re-name it to Jacarta.
Fwiw Mason was Alex Brick's apprentice.

The greenish stuff is fine as well, I have played with it and like the hit as well just need a 1" ferrules worth. Joey if you have any I would be interested, Eric Crisp tried it on one of his shafts and said it stands up against his Melamine just a little more tamed hit, this is why I am interested as my player is a Sugar and I have tried the micarta as well it sounds like a good idea.

There is a company that made it or did when Mason was buying and selling but they will not make it any more for me as I did get them to run one "last batch" last year.

They stated it was too hard to make that size and did not want to do it any more.

Joe, cue components, got an order from them and is selling it and it is the same stuff and I believe he list it as Mason's micarta.

It's all the same stuff and all comes from the same place. We don't call it by that name. We have a large inventory of it in rod and tube form.
