Danny Hewitt, Luc Salvas, Edwin Martel, just to name a few! :)

Luc Salvas gets invited to almost all of the Allen Hopkins-promoted events, and he's a joy to be around, funny, fast shooter, and loves to gamble.

Edwin Martel is a strong player. He loves the action as well. He won about 20 or 30 big ones in Vegas playing card games while the IPT tournament was in progress. He also defeated Tony Chohan at another event I witnessed.

Danny Hewitt is a determined, serious-minded player, and if he's got his game on, nobody has to like it!

Then you have Ronnie Wiseman who's another one to watch. Of course, Alex Pagulayan used to say he hailed from Canada, but today, I think he has triple residency between Philippines, Hawaii, and Canada.

A few that I know of that most certainly can compete are Luc "Machine Gun" Salvas, John Horsfall and Edwin Martel. You can also count Alex Pagulyan as well now since the last time I checked he was living up there too.

So yes...the worlds got action with our northernly friends up there in Canada!

I don't think that John is playing much pool these days... as he hasn't been coming south into the Seattle area for our regional tournments for a couple of years now. IIRC, he's more focused on golf right now instead of pool.

There is an Alain Martel... thought that you might have been thinking of him instead of Edwin Montal.

No, I'm thinking of Edwin. Matter of fact, I asked him if he was Filipino, and he winked at me! LOL! :D

I wondered why I hadn't heard anything about John in a while...he was/and I'm sure still is a great player! Very methodical, and a great grinder! I watched him come from being down something like 9 to 2 down to Frankie Hernandez and come back and win it in a race to 11. I believe it was at the US Open a few years ago.

I also seem to recall that Alain Martel was quite the player in his day also, although I don't know how much he plays anymore either.

You might want to add Eric (Erik ?) with-the-tough-last-name (? Hjorleifson ?), maybe, although I might not, but on any given day, sure, why not, what do I know.

17 year old John Morra

I’m not saying he’s the best in Canada but I saw this kid compete in a star studded 128 player field at the Turning Stone Classic VIII last February and I was impressed.., John Morra played strong with wins over Tony Crosby, Santos Sambajon, and Jose Parica.., He lost to Johnny Archer in the finals and placed 2nd overall.

Check out his AzBilliards Player Profile at http://www.azbilliards.com/thepros/2000showplayer2007.cfm?playernum=3652 .

Edwin Montal -(great gambler, methodical)
John Morra ---(what an attitude, solid)
Jason Klatt ---(bright guy, if he stays serious he can be a threat)
Luc Salvas --- (not so sure he still belongs there...)
Alain Martel -- (declining, but still one of the most knowledgeable pool player in Canada)
Erik Hjorleifson (is he serious enough?!)
Danny Hewitt (dominant)
