Years ago (abt.10 ) someone actually researched this by compiling a lot of film on position from the eight ball to the nine. The one who consistently had the best shape was Allison Fisher.I did not see any of the footage on this but it was a big discussion that year at the US OPEN . Since then I have always paid close attention to her position play and in my opinion she is always in line.

For controled position play Buddy Hall is the best. He played 9 ball so it looked like Mosconi was playing 14.1. If he broke like SVB, he would have slapped together GIANT packages.
Strickland is up there in my book too. Maybe not the best position player but with his shotmaking power added to his control, he too makes the game look quite simple.

Agree mostly. Though I would put Willie the other way. Willie then Buddy. Just for the simple nature of the games they played the most.
