Who's the shortest and tallest pro out there?

Who's the tallest and shortest touring pro (male) out there playing regularly in tourneys? I thought about this after seeing Efren, Mizerak, Varner, and Hall standing side by side during a post-match tv interview. As a side note, seems like the tallest pros out there (hall, mizerak, davenport) have the smoothest strokes around. Does anyone see a correlation between longer arms and a smoother stroke?

I think the shortest pro would be a tie between Alex Pagulayan & Santos Sambajon. If anything, this should serve as an example that height has nothing to do with ability.

Til I turn pro...*grins*

Shorty

a couple of thoughts..

Raphael Martinez is pretty short.

And I think that Michael Valentine
from Scotland at 6'6" would be one
on the taller pros.

Although when I was growing up in
Dodge City, with my horse tied up outside,
there was a guy from New Jersey or York,
playing center for St. Marys of the Plains
College basketball team that shot real good.
His name was Jerry Govan and he was 7'1".
He was not a pro or anything, but just the
tallest I have played against.

On the tall side, I believe Mike Davis is 6'5 & Shawn Putnam is 6'4. I don't know that there's anyone else currently playing that's as tall as they are... Corey Harper would be the closest and I'm going to guess him to be about 6'2 maybe.

Edit: one more is Gabe Owen... guessing he's 6'3 or 6'4.

Ok that's it... until i remembr someone else in 5 min from now. :p

I got a chuckle when I read the title of this thread. At last year's Glass City Open in Toledo, Ohio, we arrived early and were hanging out in the ballroom. I asked Johnny Archer and Buddy Hall if I could snap their picture with Keith, and I remember thinking to myself how tall Johnny and Buddy are, as shown below.

Tallest players that come to my mind today would to be Jim Rempe and Mike Davis. Reminded of Jimmy Wetch from a recent thread, he's a pretty tall cowboy, too. :p

Shortest players? Alex, Jose Parica, and Marcus Chamat, who happen to be three of my favorites. :p

I think he's about 6'2... he's taller than you think. I remember notcing it at VF last yr... I didn't realize until then how tall he is.

Yeah, that's where I was thinking as well. I bs'd with him while in the little boys' room. He is possibly 6'2, and built like a brick........well, you know..

Dave Bollman is a tall fella. Jay Swanson was a mountain of a man too. The short ones...Jose Parica is the shortest player I ever stood next to. Old school includes Larry "Boston Shorty" Johnson, Onofrio Lauri, Toby Sweet & Joe Canton to name a few.

Let's not forget the incredible Mike Massey! When Mike walks into the room, he has a great presence which makes all heads turn. He is larger than life and one of the NICEST people you'd ever want to meet. A very humble man with endless talent, and most definitely an asset to the sport/game.

I like those pool vests he wears, too! :p

for the pros et al,,,height doesn't matter.....great is great. but for the rest, given equal talent, i think tall people have might have the advantage of the table appearing smaller, not needing a bridge, and having a better view in a crowded movie theater.

That is so funny! I remember 20 or so years ago, somebody came out with some 9-ball shoes with little 9-balls on them, supposedly supportive for the feet of the active player.

They must not have been too popular because I haven't seen them since that time. :p

I want a pair ... lol (It would keep me from being tempted
to get a 1st tattoo of a 9 ball) Can I get them to match
my cue?

Actually, it is a pretty good idea if they could bring out
some pool oriented things from a regular clothier like
they did for bowling for awhile. Might help Pool become
more popular ...

Quite a picture

Way back, in the old days (70's), I watched Jeff Sparks (6'7") play Boston Shorty (5'0") ...a great sight to see!
