who's your favorite all-around player?

SVB seems like a really good guy and of course plays as well as anyone. Allison Fisher is fun to watch and looks great. But for viewing pleasure (youtube) Ronnie O is pretty much an obsession of mine.

Watching Sigel's old matches now is painful for me. His chronic slowness, picking at the felt, yammering, and addressing the shots over and over drive me nuts now. But I like watching 14.1 and he's one of the best ever at that game.

I think you're overlooking someone. Seriously, was there any game that Allen Hopkins played better than his contemporary Nick Varner (during their primes)?

Nick was a slightly stronger 14.1 player, he was probably Allen's equal at one pocket, Nick was much stronger at bank pool, Nick was better at eight ball and Nick was much better at nine ball.

I don't know if Nick was asking Allen to play all-around sets, but Allen would have needed some weight.

I could post a detailed retort to this but suffice it to say, you should ask Nick personally if he was able to spot Allen at any game lol

I remember seeing Danny Harriman at a pool hall in Cape Girardeau MO, back in the late 90's or early 2000's (my memory is so bad when it comes to remembering dates), and the only game that he could find was with this guy who played him where every shot they had to use the opposite shooting hand (so they had to switch from right handed to left handed, every shot), and his playing really impressed me. He was actually running out playing like that, and beating the other guy. Great player.
Danny was definitely up amongst the top USA players for a while there, no boutadoubtit.
