TODAY’S ANSWER

Matchroom has the rights to the 9-ball world champions so they built an infrastructure of events supporting it.

Predator has the rights to the 10-ball world championships so they built an infrastructure of events supporting it.

Matchroom does a better job producing their events.

HISTORIC ANSWER

9-ball replaced 8-ball and 14.1 as a more entertaining product for TV and more interesting for action matches. That was supported with the buzz of The Color of Money as the floodgates opened for casual wannabes chasing Tom Cruise’s image.

Wow this thread is old. I think the game its self would benifit, from, tighter rules.
Like in rotation. No ball in hand. If you foul, the object ball goes back on the spot. And the white on head string. That would make the game very different.
I don't think you going to see anything, other than 9 ball on tv. Any time soon!
There is too much behind it now

That about sums it up.

I’ve come to my personal conclusion that it’s not 9-Ball that’s the problem, it’s the old tired, worn out double elimination formats and/or races to 11, 13, or more.

Whatever this format is called is a welcome change. A ‘Showdown’?

Of course this is 10 Ball but would work with 9 too

This start in 2003.🤯. Game is fast, it was featured in Color of Money.

Bars love the game, more 💵💵💵💵💵in bar tables.
