Why A Snooker Table

Golf on a snooker table is a good game. I am trying to learn it.

The snooker tables I have seen locally for golf won't accept regular balls in the corners unless fired past the rounds from directly in front of the pocket.

Are there standardized rules? I have heard there are different ways to play concerning forfeiting holes made based on hickies accumulated, or requirements about hitting rails/balls with or without contacting a rail after the hit.

I hear a lot of 'that was the wrong shot', 'why did you shoot that?, now I can't do anything to cover him or take him out'.

It seems to be a very tactical game that I have not gotten my head around yet.

If the room has or develops a hard core crew of 'golf players'-that table will get played.

If you play 'golf' please PM me.

Apologies to petey if this post is too far off base.

There are several different rule variations in the golf game. It seems that each room has their own modified version. But yeah it is a very tactical game, and ppl can get angry if you sell out.

All three of the main pool rooms in Toronto have snooker tables. Although one has only two 12-footers, the other two have 6 and 8, all of which are equally as busy as the bar boxes and 9-footers.

Thanks for your input
We have a room about an hour away that has a couple snooker tables ,
but they have about 20 or more 9 footers to handle tournaments .
I hope it is a good thing for him .
Good luck on your projects

Petey, I'd be happy to add these tables to the list at FindSnooker.com. Could you send me a PM with the phone number and/or name of the pool hall?

All I ever see people play on snooker tables around Oklahoma is golf. Nice change of pace from all the 8 and 9 ball...

Snooker /Golf

The snooker tables often appeal to people that play ring games for hours on end. They can build a regular set of customers. Also, they are rare enough that they are a drawing card now as are three cushion tables. Worth putting in two or even one? I suppose time will tell.

I started out playing snooker when I was 12yrs., at a church rec-room, I had to wait until I was 14 yrs. to play in the pool halls, we had three in the town I grew up in.

Each pool hall had three snooker tables, and several 8 ft. pool tables. most everyone played snooker and was damn good at it, one table in each pool hall had a golf game going on it from opening till closing.

Snooker used to be very popular in the south, and every pool hall & town had snooker tables, not that way any more, the game has more or less died, but if you get hooked on the game, it's awesome to play.

I learned how to kick, play safetys, shoot straight and angles from the game, when I began playing pool it seemed so easy compared to snooker.

Wish the game would make a come back!, when I traveled the road in my 20's , if I couldn't beat um playing pool, I'd get them on the snooker table.
