Why are there so few black pro players..?

Three off the top of my head: Evan Lunda, Josh Roberts and Ryan Robinson(good player from Little Rock). Like someone else already said: who really cares? How many Chicano or Hasidic Jew players are there? Beats the fk outta me.
T Rex?
Blacks have been the poster race for oppression, repression, and bigotry in this country - all kinds of fun stuff to evolve a culture around. Frankly I think they've been over enabled in the underworld economy but I wonder more about black absence than any other race or culture.

tony has indian ancestry

ike runnels hasn't been mentioned. i used to watch his one pocket play whenever i could, because ability wise he is fairly close to us mortals (although a strong banker), but his percentage play is top grade. it's fun to watch guys like chohan or rafael martinez, but most people will never come close to that execution OR conceptualization.

Who cares?
Perfect answer.

Outside of a cultural anthropologist, maybe a marketing or advertising person, I am not sure why it would matter much to most. Maybe a "black studies" professor...

I would ask if anybody here spends much of any time thinking about it. If so, why?

Interesting to note that pool is very accessible to the general public, but it seems most tables outside pool halls are in bars. My old university had a great pool hall filled with Gold Crowns. They took it out.

Do recreation centers still have pool halls? Our local bowling alley has a couple tables, but they are crap.

Demographics and pool is interesting, but who sits around thinking about it unless it's their job?

The two pool halls I frequent in/near DC are very diverse. People from all walks of life.

Avid pool players tend to be interesting people, I've found. Not just anyone takes a liking to pool!

There used to be quite a few really good black players. They didn't do tournaments, just action. Bugs, Gabby, Strawberry, Piggy Banks,Eddie Casey/Brown, Melvin Sharp to name a few. Cliff Joyner played both action and tournament pool. These days its rare to see top black guys. Evan Lunda and Josh Roberts come to mind.

And Forest Whitaker.

Steady Eddie… I have one of his stickers.
Hell yeah. We have a local beer over here named Steady Eddie after him.

Dude....if you're not interested in my question, then simply ignore it.

😁
I think it's an interesting topic worth discussion. Similar to the question of why there are so few Black American baseball players relative to 30+ years ago. In both cases there is surely a cultural component worth exploring/discussing. If you're not interested in the topic, then leave the thread. But my guess this is that you're using this thread as an opportunity to jam your political thoughts into a discussion that doesn't need it.
