Article discusses why pool /billiards/cue sports will likely never be in Olympics. For sure will be big boost to the sport if it ever gets in.
But I stopped watching the Limp-ics after the entertaining Carl Lewis/Ben Johnson track field era. Just dumb that a whole team in team sports can only win 1 medal while a gymnast or a swimmer alone can win half dozen or more medals :ROFLMAO:

I might be dating myself, but I basically quit watching after Mark Spits era, and I don't remember anything after Nadia Comaneci era.

It is not a sport because it needs to have some sort of physical challenge. A fat guy can play pool.

Now if you were to do 100m sprints to a pool table and shoot a rack, run another and repeat then it may be an Olympic sport.

Pretty much this^^^^.

I'm not too keen on the Olympics, other than winter olympic hockey.
Oh, summer games = women's volleyball. I'll watch that.

Isn't archery an event? I suspect one could be fairly overweight and still shoot rather well.

Yea I'm assuming archery can be done with anyone of any size.

For example, in the winter olympics, there is an event where the participants would ski and stop to shoot. Endurance and heartrate is involved.

So maybe Shane can sprint around the parking lot and comeback and immediately shoot?

Every pool player has to do a 100m sprint in between shots?

You could but you won't see much of that in archery. In 3D events you might see a few guts hanging out, but for the most part the top archers are in very good shape.
Wife and I have shot a lot of archery and competition, all the way to national level.
Much more physical than pool, especially at the top level.
I really think the problem with pool is most really don't understand it, or what is involved to be at the top level.
Some say it's too long, yet they will watch sports like golf or biking.

I lost interest in the Olympics when they chose to allow professional athletes to compete.

Now with all the fiascos at this one it looks like I ain’t missing much.

I can see a time when many countries do not want the Olympics.

Maybe cities will pay the Olympics to stay away, to avoid negative publicity!
Lol

Good insight.

Best was the 60's ...pole vault, high jump and broad jump US vs Russia.
No pool in the LimpPricks? No fkn Curling is edge of the seat right?

If your criteria is "no fat people", then you'd be excluding a lot of existing Olympic events.

Pool is every bit a sport as anything else at the Olympics and deserves to be there.

I don’t know about it deserves being there. We can make an argument as why we want it there but it’s not deserving at all.

Are you talking about the powerlifting with bigger people or fat people? There’s not many sports that have fat people in the Olympics.

They are trying through perception. We now have professional or competition equipment and sporty pool cases. The days of aristocratic and hustling image is almost gone.

Competition jerseys are great too.

They have been getting away with this satanic stuff so long in Superbowls , the coronation of King Chucky Cheese and now they thought the world was ready to embrace their satanic madness, whoops, too soon . I applaud the companies that are withdrawing support of the Olympics, I feel terrible for the atheletes most of whom are probably not involved at all in any of that crap, and just want to show their skills, but enough is enough, it's time for the wokes and the satanists and pedophiles and loonie toonies to crawl back under their rocks and await the final judgement. The woke aren't really woke at all, they were just taught a much easier song to repeat so now even the sheeples can join in and sing the same notes, me me me me me .....me me me me me what about me me me me me , it's all about me me me me me .

You right and its really strange that people who post here would demean the game. There are plenty of events in the Olympics that could be called less entertaining and require far less skill..., artistic swimming, break dancing, sport climbing, free style sking, curling???

I would have to believe that there are more people playing and watching Pool than those.

From the article:
"In it, Benny, the author, theorizes that pool suffers from a lack of appeal to younger people, a less-than-stellar reputation, and a lack of sponsorship opportunities. You don’t need special clothing to play pool, and although you do need a pool stick, they don’t exactly lend themselves well to sponsor logos. He also theorizes that the commercial value of having billiards in the Olympics might be limited, and that its appeal as a broadcast support is also too niche. "

That's a stupid argument, it's the same for golf and skateboard (only specific shoes are required) for example, and there is a lot of cloth sponsors there. And they are in the olympics...

Alot of the top players are what you would call Olympic shape. Quite a few of the others not so much. Mario He the guys a great player definately far from Olympic shape. And yes he should be on the team.
