Why contrive games like Bonus Ball...

Thank you AZ. No one should be able to take a players name on a forum except that player.

I can assure you that this is NOT Ronnie O Sullivan. Ronnie did have an account a while back and asked that it be removed.

This Ronnie will be changing his username very soon.

Switching to snooker would only disconnect the amateur fans completely from the pros. Very little connection exists now IMHO outside from AZ land.

Professional pool may be in disarray but pool is doing just fine in the United States. We have around 37 million participants playing pool.

The APA has grown tremendously with over a quarter million members and 13'000 locations belonging to the league.

Pool is healthy enough.

I do hope that snooker makes a comeback on the world stage. Although I rarely play snooker its a beautiful game.

I would like to see snooker make a huge comeback in the USA. And yes, at one time snooker was a very popular game in this and other parts of the country. Had it ever been organized properly it might still be. I don't see it replacing pool in any sense, but it would be nice to have both pool and snooker available.

O'Sullivan actually came to the USA and played in at least one IPT event. He didn't set the place on fire. But one wonders how he would do if he worked at pool for a while. I can't imagine he wouldn't be successful. But financially, no, today's pool prizes would not be "succesful" for him.

Since Ronnie seems to be in a semi-constant state of retirement, he could consider the ultimate 10 ball championship a vacation of sorts.

Come get ya sum Ronnie! I would love to see you play pool!

I think he is to busy counting his money

Snooker is a great game but the tables are too expensive and pool room owners would need more room, another expensive proposition. I would vote for One-pocket, a game that has all the elements of pool plus the need for more strategy making it a tougher game. I'm surprised the people who started bonus ball didn't consider using the one pocket game instead. It has the advantage of thousands of players and existing tournaments.

Exactly why, because there are existing tournaments and not a lot of business around them. Very few pool players understand or can even watch one pocket without their eyes glazing over. Myself included :)

They looked at the existing games, thought that marketing for them did not work, and made up a new one. Basically anything new that is tried is to get new players to watch and pay for products.

Really the only game that can be marketed this way is 8 ball or 9 ball, in the US at least. Snooker is already pretty well done elsewhere, which is why you don't see new games coming out of Europe, look how long it took to get people playing 9 ball there at a good pace.
