It's time for.
One day events Single elimination, that way you'll give it 110% like you would in ANY key match instead of knowing you got second chance ''goin for yah'' :).
I don't know allot of people that enjoy playing a weekend event on Saturday and finishing your match Sunday am, and play again by noon or 1 on the same day.
Single elimination.
All begin Every round at the same time.
After each round.... half the room tables Open Up!!!! it's only 1 pm so, and???? With Tables Open whad-yahgonnadue?, match up/have a bite/hang out/sweat matches or ???? leave and enjoy your Saturday daytime). No more HURRY UP AND WAIT.

That would be great if there's enough players for a short tourney.

There's not much chance of success 4 a 3C tourney with this format, except within certain select areas.
NYC, LA, S. Florida, Houston..

There used to be a single elimination handicapped weekly tournament at Bob Byrne's home room in Novato. I think Diab went to 20 or so. Played on three tables.

That's fine when you have a population of local players for a 1 day tournament.

I'd have a tourney in my basement if I could find more that 2 players to enter.

Players never decide anything in this game. It’s always the room owners, promoters, & industry. Double elimination keeps people captive in the establishment - table time, food, drinks, side-action, all of it.

With the WPA format of playing sets (like Tennis), I don’t see a problem with single elimination.

Well if it is double elimination and you lose your first match you don't have to stick around for the next match if you don't really want to be there.
People make comebacks from the "loser's bracket" and win tournaments all the time. Just a few more games to play. Nothing wrong with that to me. I bet we've all been there.
Of course the establishment want to keep the place busy and make some money out of it. That's why they are there in the first place.

For a basic local event i might see it but for anything bigger few, if any, will pay to go to an event where you're one-n-done.

WHY THE GREAT BIG BLACK LETTERS????????????? If you were the club\room owner would you want people leaving early???? Hell no. WHY DON'T YOU RUN ONE AND GET BACK TO US.

No argument there from me. I’m not against it - I’m just pointing out that the players never have a say. The whole reason why everyone has a jump cues.

True....
But the Saturday night regulars.... the locals pay the rent.
When regulars come in on a Sat. night and all tables are full, ugh.
But in single elimination LOTS of tables are now open.
At worse a short wait, snack etc. and enjoy some action.

I put on a lot of single elimination house tournaments in my pool room. Used to do one every week. We played race to five two out of three sets.
I also experimented with single elimination race to six win by two. That way there's never a double Hill game. People seem to like both formats.
