I also have 2 jobs but my table time hasnt decreased in a while its just keeps getting mroe and more. I average 30-40 hours a week shooting.

You don't have to be single COF...it's all in friendly fun...one pool player to another!! C'mon, make a vacation out of it...Florida is gorgeous this time of year!

My point was what that their friends probably wouldn't have even spent 100 or 200 on a cue...so, to their friends they were crazy. If the equipment you want is the best to you, and it's expesive...but you can afford it, by all means spend away!!!

I got your point, in fact, I am sure we all agree w/ the general sentiment of the replies...

My post was pointing out that Earl/ Alison play with what the vast majority of us would put in the crap category. In other words: If you be a player, you can certainly be sucessful with less than the best...so perhaps the logic that says we need cues better than a Cuetec is faulty!

Jacksonville is a good ways from Sarasota, but if you'd like to stop in, that'd be great. You wouldn't be going much out of your route anyhow, it's right along 95

Is that an invitation?

P.S. I may be single soon, my wife doesn't like my playing pool very much and I cannot restrict myself because I love the game so much. Argh! :(

Chuck,
Glad you like the Dominiak! I love the feel when contacting the CB. As you and most members here know, I have a pretty decent size and valuable cue collection also, and it keeps growing each year or more! haha!! Let me know if you need anything else. I'll do my best to get you the best price (and anyone else), however, I'm not ashamed to point you to someone who can get a better price than I can.

Ahhh!! Your wife truely does not understand, but I do! Have you ever tried to get her playing? That cannot be good...you both should have your own hobbies and lives. Get her into scrapbooking or something, then you'll have an excuse to go play pool, she'll be doing her thing while you do yours. I firmly believe that two people in a good relationship should make time for themselves. My boyfriend and I share pool, but we have understandings about it. For instance, Sundays is his day at the pool hall, to be with his buddies, play pool, etc...and my Sunday thing is the beach in the summer, scrapbooking or cleaning other times...unless of course i have to work!

She doesn't like playing very much. We do have our own hobbies, but she doesn't agree with my playing pool which is a real stumbling block IMO. I have tried to make her understand but she refuses, it is probably her high-class upbringing causing it. She sees it as a low-class activity which is not true, oh well.

I lost my last girlfriend because of pool jsut for the reason is she didnt understand that is something i liked doing. When i wasnt with her i would go there and if she called i would go with her and then when i left id go back to play. Now i work till 5pm then go to the poolhall for work at 6pm and play about 4-5 hours out of that time till 2am or 3am depending what day it is when we have to close and then go to sleep and wake up for work at 8:30am. its great having something you love so much in your life (pool that is). I just wonder next year when i play AAA baseball if ill be playing as much? I think I will be.

Real AAA baseball? What league, what team? Indy has a super field, let us know if you are playing here. Lots of baseball fanatics here as well as pool fanatics.

Well, i know how you feel, when i got back into shooting some stick in 2000, i bought a Viking VM15 for 180$ and then like a week later bought a SchonLTD for 700$, along with a guisseppie case too.

But if you think that is bad, i bowl on a couple leagues, and normally throughout the yr, i can buy 2-8 new bowling balls a yr, that range from 130-270$ a piece, and this is every yr.

And there are a couple guys who buy twice as many as i do. So your figuring that the serious bowlers will spend around 1600$ min. on new equipment every yr.

Its amazing how we all experience the same things from our friends.....its seems to me like we need some new friends :) j/k
i go through the same thing with my friends and my girlfriend. They cant believe that I put so much into a hobby. I think they just dont understand our passion and most of the time they are as fortunate to have a love for something like we do for pool. Sometimes its not a matter of money its just the fact that I spend so much time playing pool rather than going out with them to clubs or bars. That stuff is just not me. Oddly enough, if I were to ever to be playing in a tournament or playing a big money game, my friends would be there to support me. So its not so bad. In the end I always say its your money, you earned it, so why let anyone tell you how to spend it!!!

When I was young, I used to love to play pool. I even went out and sprung a whole 20.00 on a cue...hehehe. I used to go out and play with the ex, until he got tired of me beating him all the time, and he gave my cue away to one of his friends! He did the same with the first motorcycle I learned to ride....gave it away to a friend. Guy was a real piece of work.

So, many years later, new guy, loves to play pool, and is very good...ahhh, competition. ;) I get progressively better and better, and start beating him...he's all good with it, kinda proud actually. Same guy also into bikes...guess what I own now? ;)

Anyway....not really have alot of cash-flow, I bought my first custom cue, an Espiritu. Traded it a year later toward a Jacoby I fell in love with. A year later, traded it toward another Jacoby. Slowly working my way up. Then, last fall, I saw a Skip Weston that I just had to have. ALOT of money for me, this cue. I traded my Jacoby toward that cue, AND sold my Taylor acoustic guitar to raise the balance of the cash....but I have my cue!! This one is definitely a keeper. :D
Did my friends think I was nuts? You bet they did!!! Do I care? Nope, not one iota. It was one of the nicest things I ever did for myself. BTW...I don't tell anyone what I actually spent...that would be an invitation for theft.

BTW...I pretty much worked my way up into my current bike as well. Own it outright, and customized her out all by myself.
I am actually very lucky to find someone with like passions to share my life with. :D

I know quite a few guys who have lost girlfriends to pool. Luckily my boyfriend and I share pool. I just can't seem to grasp the thought of making him quit or breaking up with him. Not a fair ultimatum. ...girls who like to hang out in the pool hall as much as you do are hard to come by. When you find one who doesn't mind...KEEP HER!!
