why does everyone else's cue always feel better than mine??

Alrite, I know this is a psychological thing but everytime I use someone else's cue, it seems like they hit so much better than mine. It does not matter what it is, it just does that. Does anybody else out there feel the same way?

My cue was having a new tip put on it so I was using friends cues all night I couldnt stand it. I hated all of them that I tried. I guess I am just used to the way mine is balanced. All the other cues just felt like all of the weight was in the end of the butt. It felt like I was playing with a sledghammer even though it was the same weight.
 
What cue are you now using? It might actually be a problem with your cue or perhaps the tip.

Well, what kind of cue do you have? Is it a production cue? If you got a $50 or $100 cue, then your post doesn't surprise me, but if your cue cost much more, we might have to discuss a little.
 
I think you just don't have any pride in your cue.

No matter where I shoot I know I have the nicest cue out there. My game is a whole other argument. :P

What kind of cue do you have?
 
i'm playing with a dominiak sweet16. I came over from a lucasi which was more balanced on weight. the dominiak feels a little butt heavy. I have adjusted to this cue already to the point where I can just about do anything i want with the cue ball. problem is that it just doesn't feel as "easy" as my old lucasi to move the ball around.

What kind of tip do you have? Of course, that won't mean anything re: your cue feeling butt heavy but it will mean a LOT regarding the hit and spin characteristics.

Also, what is the weight? You probably have a weight bolt so as weight is added it is all near the end of the butt so the heavier the total weight, the more butt heavy it's going to feel.

Go back to your Lucasi, I mean a cue is a cue is a cue, but when you find something that works and feels right why change!!!!;) I sell allot of cues, and I let my customers shoot with any cue they would like that is in stock. I do not believe that it matters how much a cue costs, who made it, where it is made, only thing that is important is how that cues feels to you.
I hear people say every day, well I am playing better now maybe I should step up and buy a custom cue. The problem with this is that no matter how much money you spend, you may not find what you like and no one can tell you what is best for you.

I read in a book once that everyone feels they play better with a new cue in their hands. The reasoning is that you are more focused on how it feels, you slow down and take your time playing with it and for some reason you're more focused on fundamentals and HOW you are playing..how you are holding the cue and what not.....

Yea a guy at my pool hall has 2 completely different playing cues for that reason. he plays with one and when he gets used to it he switches to another cue so he keeps focused. hes not the greatest player.. but it does seem to help his game some. Pretty amusing.

i'd say play with the lucasi.. i haven't hit on a better cue for the price range they are in.
