Why does the word "custom" get thrown around so much?

I would call any one of a kind cue a "custom cue". I would also call any production cue that the customer ordered to his specs a "custom cue". My question now that I have established those two things as facts in my mind, is this: If someone brings you a production cue to customize for them, does it then become a "custom cue"? Example: You add a lizard wrap, or you ad some inlays, or you build them a new shaft and change the weight.
When someone takes a regular off the line Van and fixes it up inside and maybe paint it up fancy, it then becomes a "Custom Van". When someone builds their own hot rod out of an old car it becomes a "Custom Hot Rod". I personally think people are being overly picky about what qualifies as "Custom". I have almost exlusively built one of a kind cues. Many to the customers specs and many to my own. I consider them all "custom cues". I even use the word "custom" in my brand name.

My thought exactly...JER

At the end of the day, who cares. People apply their own meanings to words all the time.
It does seem that the cue world lacks enough terms to properly describe some things. As a result, some terms get stretched to fill the gaps that are left. Instead of moaning about it, we need to come up with some new definitions. :)

Or could be it took a certain amount of "CUS"= Cuss words "TO"=to "M"=make:D

I usually try to contain Myself, but At times, building a cue could turn even a choir boy into a potty mouth;) :p
