Why does this happen?

Once in a while when I try to do a search here, I get this message. I don't get it all the time, But enough that it gets damn annoying.

"Your submission could not be processed because the token has expired.

Please push the back button and reload the previous window."

I have tried the back button, refreshing the page, closing out and logging back in, But when it does this nothing but time seems to make this message stop appearing. I can't make any sense of this.

Clearly it's the expiration of the token thats causing the problem. Frankly I'm not sure how the message could be any clearer.

Of course, I have no idea what the hell it means either lol...but you need a fresher token it seems.

Basically it means you sat around for a long time on the forums without clicking anything or going to another site.

This should fix it (copy/pasted from elsewhere)

log out, clear your browser cache*, close your browser, restart your browser, and try again.

*To clear your cache:
FireFox: Tools > Options > Advanced > Network Tab > Clear cache now
Internet Explorer: Tools > Options > General tab > Browsing History subsection > "delete" button > "delete temporary files" button.

Good luck and lemme know if that doesn't fix it.

So, put the joint down, and submit the search again. Or, maybe your joint has gone out (expired) and somehow AZ knows about it!

If you click on the AZBilliards logo in the upper left hand corner of the page, it will take you back to the "home page" and you can do your search from there, rather then hitting the back button and reloading the page, only to find the token hasn't been restored.

How many search tokens do you have in your account? If you run out of them you won't be able to do a search without buying some more.

I have some extra search tokens and would be happy to sell you some at a discount if you have PayPal.

As others have stated, its the expiration of a token. i.e. if you are on thread and typing a message, but its really long and took your 15 minutes to type then there is a good chance the token expired during the process of typing. You can renew the token by refreshing the page, but then it would wipe out what you typed. What I recommend is that you select everything you typed, copy it, and then refresh/reload the page. This will allow you to paste what you had just copied and then post it immediately with a fresh token state.

FYI, I'm using the term "token" loosely just to stay in context.
