There are many reasons that Taiwanese players don't come to the US much.
1) Language barriers. I dont' think many of them can communicate fluently in English.
2) Monetary reasons: There aren't enough high dollar tournaments in the US to attract them to come to the US to play for an extended period of time. There's the usual BCA and US Open, but it's quite expensive to come for just a few tournaments. In addition, the competition is stiff here and there's no guarantee they'll win every time.
3) Business reasons: A lot of the pro players run their own room(s) or they work as club coahes in a ph. Some may have other jobs. So it's kind of taugh to leave everything behind for a month or two.
4) Asia has quite a few tournaments year-round. There's the pro tour in Taiwan, the big tournaments in Japan, the San Miguel Asia Tour, some tournaments in the Philliphines, and many other tournaments. So there's no strong need to find new tournaments to play in. Plus, you get top notch competition in Asia already, as many of the US and European players travel to Asia to play tournaments.
The pros in Taiwan, like many of the pool fans there, like using American custom cues. You'll probably find more custom cues in a good pool hall in Taipei, then if you go to a ph in the US (such as the Amsterdam in NYC). Most pros use US custom cues, with some using a good lcoal cuemaker named Ray and some using Japanese made customs.
