Why don't Snooker players use low deflection shafts?

Snooker players rely mostly on follow and draw and speed control (center axis shots) for their longer pots.
And when they do use right or left English, it's usually done on short shots where deflection doesn't have much effect.
Same with most Asian players who use regular 13mm maple shafts.
Consistent players use the center-axis English and control with speed.
If you are using left and right all the time, you're playing your shape incorrectly.

For several years I used a pool cue on a snooker table. I was warming up to go gamble after tuning a few hours on the snooker table so the pool cue was appropriate. It worked just fine on the smaller balls.

About ten years later I used a 12 ounce snooker cue to play pool on a barbox with a heavy cue ball. This was hard to make work but when I got used to it, it was awesome! I won five or six tournaments in a row one place before I quit to let some other people have a chance. Just a bar room weekly event but it was drawing twenty guys or so.

Just to say we can adapt to almost anything! Speaking of which, I thought that the pool players would adapt to the game with much less spin of all kinds, the way snooker was played. Instead, the snooker players look more like pool players with very well manicured tips and using much more spin of all types. The old piece of shapeless leather that looked like it came from a worn out shoe or belt is gone!

One thing about peddling CF to the snooker players, a lot of their cues have the joint at 3/4 of the way to the butt so a shaft for those would be much longer and the diameter at the joint would be much bigger I assume. I think the snooker cues are usually made like a one piece cue then a joint cut into it too.

There is or was video of building a snooker cue on youtube. Pretty cool, they take the shaft down from square to round without ever putting it on a lathe in that video.

Ronnie is then doing it wrong!

Yep!
I tried to help him but he just won't listen!:ROFLMAO:
Seriously though, deflection isn't an issue in snooker like pool, and has been explained by many folks in and out of this thread.
Smaller tip and balls are one of the biggest reasons though.

why is it an issue in pool. just aim in the correct spot.

most of the issue is with not so good players that haven't learned to adjust to the shot called for.

Also lots of misconception out there.

On reddit, someone was showing off 8-ball on a video game, and complained he would've made the shot had the game offered a LD shaft option. :-)
