OWENSBURG — A retired Navy officer who worked at the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center died Monday night when the old tractor he was driving along a Greene County road overturned and landed on him.

Ronald N. Schwartz, 48, was driving his 1958 Massey Ferguson MF50 tractor along County Road 875 East in the Clifty Hills Addition, near his home, when the 9 p.m. accident happened. According to a police report, Schwartz was southbound when the tractor drove off the east side of the road and then up an embankment. The tractor apparently came back onto the roadway, overturned and rolled over Schwartz.

Emergency workers arrived and transported Schwartz to Monroe Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Schwartz was in the U.S. Navy from 1978 to 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Erin, three daughters and a son.

Everyone, I stand corrected... Either way, it's sad that that a relatively young man with a great job and a fulfilling hobby (breeding champion show dogs in his spare time) died. For those of you predisposed to praying, please keep his wife Erin in your prayers. (edit: And his children.. I knew about Erin, but did not know about the children..)

Huh?????? It figures, Russ. You forgot one thing. You owe DCP a huge apology. Shame on you.

no apology necessary. i am sure i have offended people on here, so lets just drop things and not worry about it. besides, Russ is in Iraq, and for that we owe him a great deal.

DCP

Russ, if you don't like DCP all that much, why don't you simply not read his posts or better yet, just ignore him? Wouldn't that be the most logical thing to do?

Boy did this thread take a turn. Maybe it should be the `my friend died so get the wolfs off my back` thread

DCP,
First of all, the remarks Russ made were not only disrespectful to you, but to the community here, as a whole. The comments were devoid of any human empathy and respect, required in any society to co-exist in a civilized manner. It is about more than you, DCP.

Furthermore, Russ is in Iraq, not serving his country, but his own interests, as a civilian contractor. (BTW, which is ok, but the clarification stands that he is not actively serving in the US military.)

I have said tons of negative things about you in the past (and will probably say more in the future) but this post right here is one of the classiest posts I have ever read on this forum.

For me, I dont have that much class....

Russ, you are a jackass no matter where in the world you are.

everything is cool here folks. lets just let it go, and move forward.

hmmmm? perhaps i will post a shot/diagram and ask what i should have done? that seems to get the posters mind off of other things..........

Many, many contractors have died in Iraq since the start of the war. I work a great deal w/ Booz Allen Hamilton, and there have been many contracts I wanted to go after in Iraq. Any statement of work, even in the "green zone", is off-limits to that company because the death-rate is so high. For that, I respect Russ a great deal for having the guts to be there in the first place.

I know what Russ said was overboard, and I'm sure he'd want to take it back. However, in his defense, I think one could misinterpret some of DCP's "strange" and "often" posts as something other than sincere. He posts some of the exact same stuff all the time, and when people call him on it - he posts something like that death as a change in direction.... almost like he's trying to win a contest for the number of threads started. I mentioned in another thread... at one point when I logged into AZB, I saw 5 threads on the first page started by DCP--- and none of them had any content whatsoever. Therefore, I think Russ was trying to identify what was happening. I'm sure he'll never do it again, that's for sure.

DCP, I know you're a smart guy if you're working at a naval activity - much smarter than the "golly gee" person we keep reading about on here. It's that "it's my first time at the county fair and I ain't never seen anything like this" attitude that makes people like Russ do irrational things like that. For a set period of time (maybe 3-6 months), keep all of your instructional questions offline with Scott, your paid instructor, and you'll see people will come around and treat you differently.

We're all sorry for your loss

To tell the truth I quit reading DCP's threadfs a while ago.. hell I got enough of my own problems at the table... dont need anybody else's!!!

But I jumped on this one cause I saw the post count getting so high... and whoa!!!! I am pretty much laid back and an anti moderrater kinda guy, but even I gotta say that RUss clawing dude up about the "fake" death thing was a wee bit odd...

And it's even cooler that he didnt acknowledge DCP once he got proved wrong......classy...

ahh well.......whaddya expect?

First DCP has acted as the better man just recently, and said that it was ok and that since Russ is in Iraq he has respect for him. I think if DCP can forgive him, then you need to forgive him NYC!

Second It doesn't matter if he is over there as a civilian or as a solider. I don't see you over there NYC dude! Anyone that choses to go over there has my respect. Beside Russ was in the military. Most of the civilian contractors over there are ex military that were simply smart enough to get out of the military because of the pay.

Now, I said earlier in this post that maybe what Russ said was out of line, and I still stand by that. However, I know why he did say those things.

DCP is an attention hound, and he always says something to stir the pot. It got on Russ's nerves, so he lashed out. It happens.

What I will say is this though! The death should not have been posted along with his moaning thread. That was only done for the sympathy vote! I whole heartedly believe that, and sane person would have started another thread for the obituary. You didn't do the man any justice by throwing his obituary in a thread about why you cry so much. All you did was disrespect the man's honor. If you wanted to honor the man you would have posted a thread requesting prayers for his wife and family. If you didn't want to talk about it then you would have posted it as a PM to the people you cared about. It was disrespectful to even post that horrible death for your own agenda. You even said you posted that so people would know why you didn't go play pool. Therefore that is your own agenda, not because you wanted prayers for the guy's family.

He should have started a separate post in the Non pool related (in less of course the guy played pool). Or he should have sent a PM to the Evilcash guy! The fact that he wanted to prove to everyone in here he was going to meet someone and play is proof that he just wants to show everyone that he isn't an attention hound, and that everyone should love him.

Russ should apologize, but you have to understand his intentions. Not everyone in here can just ignore DCP. Everyone has an urge to help people, and when DCP is just a constant moaner and complainer it gets old. Russ is a good guy, and everyone makes mistakes. Russ was just trying to catch him in a story..............what would have happened if Russ would have been right?

DCP reminds me of a shock jock! He says stuff intentionally to piss people off, but he says it in such a way that other people feel sorry for him. So he gets two groups of people fighting over him. The people that feel sorry for him, and the people that want to strangle him. You can't blame Russ for wanting to catch him in one of his stories!

By the way Russ I have decided to just answer all of DCP's questions sarcastically now. If he doesn't want to listen then what good is it to offer sound advice? And your idea of reposting his questions without his complaints would be a great idea for anyone that actually wants to learn from those diagrams!

i totally agree CreeDo.

i am hoping the obituary will be online tomorrow. if not, i have another source - another poster on here that also works here at the naval base.

DCP

What huh? Wait a sec... if you have a friend at work who posts here, I assume he plays pool (I know, I am a genius, huh). Therefore, I have a wacky idea... Why not play some pool with him? Everyone is always telling you to shoot with some other players. Sounds like a great opportunity there.

That's really between you and him, but since you mentioned him, and since your posts suggest that you always play alone, and since tons of posters who you have asked for advice have recommended playing against other humans, I really felt that should be mentioned.

P.S. My sincere condolences on the loss of your comrade.
