Hi guys and gals, ive been looking at some espiritu cues and the resale isnt very high. Why is that ? They are pretty sticks but I dont want to lose a lot when reselling later if I buy one.:(

If you are worried about resale, buy a good deal on a used one that you like, get it refinished and get him to make you a second shaft and it's like brand new.

Russ Espiritu cues seem to lose their value on the secondary market more than most custom cues.
The older Espiritu cues that I have seen, and even owned, have had some quality issues, and I wasn't thrilled with the hit.
I probably didn't give it a fair chance with new tips and all, but there were other issues as well, and I ended up losing quite a bit on the deal.

Its just demand

Its all about who owns and plays with them. If enough people say a cue is special then it is. Buy what you like and trade it to a broker when you want to move it you'll get more value on the resale then.

I wouldn't purchase a cue with any concern for resale, unless you are going for a big name.

And low resale is not necessarily bad, it does mean that you get a good price on one, presuming you buy used.

What attracts you to this brand anyway?

Russ makes some really nice cues for a really decent price. I have bought and sold many of his cues over the years that I got direct from him. They have a hard hit, and play very nicely. Price on the secondary market is tougher to gauge. Here on AZB, their resale value on the secondary market is lower, but here in my area, they bring really good money in face to face sales.

He can build a really nice cue when he wants to. My oldest son plays with a very fancy Espiritu. It is the cue that Mike Gulyassy beat Oliver Ortmann with in the Mosconi Cup back in the mid-90s. It is REALLY sweet.

If you want a real good player for a decent price, pick up an Espiritu....and if you think his cues don't sell well, check his booth at any event. He sells out at SBE, Vegas and most other venues that he goes to every year.

Do you think they're too thin or not ?
Being thin limits the desirability for a lot of people I think.
Specially people with large hands.

That is pretty much what I was getting at... The $ factor bot attracts and repels you.

You like the low price when you buy, but not when you sell. That is not how the market works.

Not bad news though, just can't have it both ways, ya know.
