Re: UPA contract

Jake,

I can't believe you are inquiring about the UPA contract after all this time. I offered several months ago to email a copy to anyone who wanted one. I have several copies left and will email one to you when I return to Connecticut.

I guess you haven't seen the worst parts yet.

I'm in Fl at this time arranging to sell my home but I may be returning tomorrow.

Thanks Ken, As you know I don't play pool at the professional level, far from it in fact, I'm just a concerned fan.

Next time you are at the US Open make sure you turn around and face the camera, I'm getting tired of looking at the back of your head everytime Iwan is is giving his commercial.

Manlyshot,

I don't know for sure but I think you are quoting an old version of the contract. The copy I got in July was the "revised" contract and unless there's been another revision the contract is now nowhere near as restrictive as you are quoting.

My copy has no restriction for playing in nonsanctioned events as long as they do not "conflict" with the UPA, whatever that means.

The requirement that the UPA be permitted to use images, names etc. is trivial as far as I feel and is quite reasonable.

The worst part of the contract is that whether as a "touring pro" or a "standard" member you must sign the contract. It obligates you to travel anywhere there might be a UPA sanctioned event and you must pay your own way and enter the event. If you don't, you agree to lose a lawsuit and abide by whatever CW asks the court to do to you.

That is why I don't believe that any lawyer wrote the contract because it is ridiculous.
