Whats the deal here?!?!?!?

Why can't we get a single damn Tournie here in New Orleans......... I do not wanna hear this Katrina crap as everything all fine on the southern front here.

8ball, 9 ball, 1 hole, 14.1 ( man what a dream), banks.......something

I can not find a single damn tourney anywhere around Metairie.....

Something has to give......

Ummmm

Because after we put 150 BILLION into rebuilding crappy neighborhoods there will be no money left for gambling? Also..they are still finding bodies down there. :(

Jamie, take the bull by the horns and make your own tournament. If there is a shortage of competitve events, then I'd imagine you'd attract quite a few takers. It wouldn't be that hard to print up a couple hundred fliers and disseminate the info. Wherever you shoot pool at, try to work out a date for the tournament with the owner, maybe on a dead day in the establishment. Keeping the entry fee LOW for the first one would be a good idea.

About Katrina, I'm still transcribing documents here in D.C. about the devastation. There are some good organizations out there that are following through and making things better. I came upon this link one work day on Google about Katrina: http://www.newurbanism.org/pages/416431/index.htm

Let me know what you think about making your own tournament happen. Who knows, if it's a success, you could make it a weekly event. I'm pretty sure you're not the ONLY one craving a little action down Louisiana way. :)

Write Shari Stauch the editor of pool and billiards magazine. She was going to try to get the IPT to do something down here to help out. She told me New Orleans is her 2nd favorite city in the world and thought a major tournament would be great for the area.

kinda like the plane crashing into the graveyard

Kinda like the two seater plane crashing into the graveyard, they will be finding bodies for years! I suspect they are finding less bodies left laying around now than before Katrina, folks in New Orleans have always been pretty free and easy about leaving bodies laying around.

Katrina is still the excuse for everything and I guess will be until the next hurricane hits New Orleans. Ten, twenty years from now, "Sorry dude, couldn't get your car repair finished today, things just haven't been the same since Katrina." I do notice one thing, Katrina, Camille, all of the real hurricanes are named after women. The himmicanes just can't muster the same fury!

THanks JAM for the encouragement. I do know how to run a Tournie as I took over one once for a night.....not sayin I know it all but it isnt really hard. I jsut expected more especially around here when i moved here a year ago. Heck even before Katrina i still couldnt find a tournie anywheres....... Even a small barbox tourny ( which I love) is all but lost in tis great Chocolate City :)

Jamie, there are several tournaments around New Orleans. The Corner Pocket always has 1-2 Pechauer Southeastern 9-ball events each year. They were having a B/C 9-ball event every other month, although I think that has been suspended. Ask Glenn or Jamie F. there.

They have bar box tournies at several joints around the city. You might check: http://www.nola.com/forums/billiards/ Otherwise you can ask around. Also check the word at Buffalos.

Two Sisters in Slidell has a barbox event the 1st Sat. of each month, and a big table event on the 3rd Saturdays. I think they hold an 8 ball tournament every Sunday evening.

You just have to mosey on over to Slidell for their twice a month tournaments. TWO SISTER's Billiards is a nice pool hall.

Business is too good for the other pool halls to bother with tournaments right now besides a lot of the players that played in the local tournaments have moved. Still plenty of action at Buffalo's
