Why not include asian countries in the Mosconi Cup??

Just wondering if the idea has ever been entertained to add a third team comprised of players from asian countries, or some sort of team that includes more of the world than US and Europe.

Thats like asking "Why don't you let an Asian team into the Ryder Cup?" You don't do that because its tradition and there are already tournaments out there that use teams from different countries. The Mosconi Cup was created for, and remains, a tournament between Europe and The United States.

There used to be a tournament in Taiwan where team Taiwan takes on the world team. Probably was one for the Filipinos as well. That is a possibility to have different countries play different countries in teams of say.. 4-6. But I don't think it would be as exciting as the Mosconi Cup just because of the rivalry that already exists.

why not play a game Willie Mosconi enjoyed?

he thought 2 foul pushout was to sloppy to be a proper pool game..

I'm sure he is rolling over in his grave knowing that his namesake .. is little more than trick shot break... bangerball..

If you can't run out a 9 ball rack you don't get to call yourself a "good " pool player much less a world class pool player..

stop whoring yourself out take pride in being good at this, and play a game that reflects that skill

PLEASE!!!!!

Yea, I don't think Filipinos will win for sure. There are great American players, European players, Taiwanese players. Taking some of the top few players, I think its an even match up.

Why didn´t the philipinos win the WTC

Maybe because it was a championship of short runs
Maybe because the shooting of a special ball (one shot) decides who win
Maybe because "Efren" and "Busti" were not there

..........for sure, there would be more maybes, or not

The only way to determine who is the better player or the better team is the long run.
Let them play the runs to "100", or better let them play something like 10 to 20 games difference.
Then we all will know who the better one is - thats the real thing

:thumbup:Thanks to JUSTIN and the whole TAR Group

Golf also has the Presidents Cup, which is the international players vs the US.

I'd love for someone to make this happen, might be the only way to get some of the top Asian players to actually come to the US every other year.

I agree with Jason. Imagine a team of Efren Reyes, Bustamante, Lee Van Corteza, Pagulayan, and Dennis Orcullo. Throw De Luna or Santos Sambajon in the mix too. My money's on them, any takers?

there was a match-up between Team Europe v Team Asia in January of this year.....but for example the Team Europe was a completely different set up than Team Europe that was doing Mosconi a month earlier...
