As some on here might know a little over two weeks ago I had new Simonis 860 put on my Gold Crown IV. And now I am getting skid after skid after skid.

Any idea what could be causing this?

What are you using to clean your ball sets?

Just basically wiping them off with a towel. I've been using a damp cloth and the Simonis X-1 gizmo on the table.

I'd suggest the Aramith ball cleaner, it will help reduce a bit of friction that wiping them with water might promote a bit.

I'm curious what cloth you had before the 860? Was it a worsted wool?

Previous cloth was also Simonis 860.

And you cant clean your balls every time. I cleaned them really good 3-4 days ago with the Aramith Restorer. And I wipe the CB off all the time.

I've never had this many skids in the 12 years that I've had this Gold Crown IV.

Problem is the cloth colour...

After installing 860 on my GC1 it played extremely slippery.
It will slow down. Dampen a towel and wipe down the cloth.

Ah, well you never mentioned cleaning them with anything but water. The skid works both ways , too much friction from the ball, (ie cleaning with water) or, too little friction from the cloth, thats why I asked what cloth you used to have. I thought you might not be used to the 860s characteristics when new. The damp rag on the cloth will help. Thats a good suggestion. Once it breaks in that will also help.

Will take a little time for the sizing to wear off the new cloth and it have the proper friction... Keep damp wiping it and you can damp wipe it with Quickclean to speed up the process if you have any on hand....

Bad poster peter, bad poster, go to your room....

But yes, I mean the shear volume of posts by this guy is staggering.
Cloth color, lights, drawing a ball, skid, it just doesn't stop.

The recommendation from when he stopped posting awhile back was that some people just aren't meant to be pool players, and he is one of them.

I don't think the cloth has anything to do with skids - that's caused by unusually high friction between the balls. It's an unusual amount of throw, usually caused by chalk on the CB/OB contact point and, like normal throw, it isn't affected by the cloth. If it was affected by the cloth you'd have to aim differently on newer vs. older cloth, or even in higher vs. lower humidity.

Could it be possible, that they delivered the 860 HR?
It's what we have in our club for 2 seasons now, and although we're cleaning the cloth with a Hoover every day and we have a ball cleaning machine, this kind of cloth causes many skids - I've never seen that before!

My 860 is just as new. I also use Aramith, and the X-1.

Not one skid! Holy crapola; if it's not one thing, it's another; can't draw, skidding, color too dark, ad infinitum!

I have re-clothed my table twice with 860 always plays a little funny till its broke in. After two good sessions it played "normal" .

Oh god, here we go....

Actually, it's just that damned pixie dust.

Every time new Simonis is laid in our pool hall, this happens for the first three or four days, considering the far higher volume of traffic on these tables, I would imagine a personal table will take a little longer to settle in and start playing normally.
