why wouldnt a cuemaker sign a custom cue?

Just wondering why wouldnt a cuemaker sign a custom cue? I have a beautiful plain jane custom that hits fantastic. i got it from a guy in texas. He doesnt have any info on cue. if anyone has any idea who could have built the cue. Let me know?
here is some info.
13mm shaft with around 15" pro taper Linen based ferrule. has looks like to be older moori hard
30" butt deep dark rosewood. Very nice Finish.
Naturally weighted butt is 16.5 shaft shaft is about 3.6oz
no hole bored for weight bolt or anything
older type bumper slightly receded into butt cap fits very precise. and held on by screw with square head.
end of 3/8x10 brass joint screw looks like its been machined smaller than normal.
joint is also smaller diameter. all the shafts i have is bigger by quite a bit.
i dont have any calipers with me so dont know exact specs.
Maybe .810 or .815

you know the first thought that comes to mind is that the maker didn't think the cue was up to snuff but sold it anyway to get some cash. the funny thing is the best hitting cue i ever hit a ball with came from a cue without a cue maker's name on it. all i know is that it was from somewhere in the chicago area
 
I don't sign many of mine. Pretty much only do it by request now. My reasoning is I build performance cues & like a famous cuemaker once said...."my name never made a ball". Adding my name adds no performance so I see it as not necessary. :wink:
 
The shaft that came with it fits perfect it just that standard diameter shafts are way to big. such as my Low deflection shafts and my other custom.

you could always just use the shafts that came with the cue. or any of the cue makers on here could modify a LD shaft for you
 
A lot of times the original name comes off when the cue is refinished.
