Why...?

Why was my thread about my cue progress moved to the NPR? It is most certainly pool related, more so than discussing who has the hottest girlfriend or wife, who won at a game of chess, forum censorship, or putting faces to usernames.

**I'm just wondering because I was getting a lot of great advice and resources in the main forum that others could benefit from also. Not trying to whine about it, just plead my case to get it moved back to the main forum, as I received pertinent information I would not have received in the NPR!**

I don't want to speak for anybody but there were a couple of new posts and you hadn't looked at it cause of the NPR stuff. Maybe just to make it convenient? Did you find the info on the cuemakers forum? If not, I go see if I can find the thread.

Maybe it was a Mistake. But it brings me to some Ideas. Seems that when I log on in the morning. Then get off of work there are 10bagillion new posts. I would like to see the forum broken down a little more.

Perhaps have a page dedicated to Pool Table questions. Mechanical questions and such.

Then have the gossip page where you can talk about hot wifes/girlfriends/husbands/mistress'. Also how Suchandsuch did at a tournament.

I didn't get a chance to look at the new posts yet, but I'll have to see it tomorrow. I'm crawling into bed!

Good night, and btw, my angelic hotdog, you're a doll!

Don't take this as a flame since I'm only offering a different opinion. :) I actually think leaving the forums alone, and perhaps even removing the NPR forum, would be better for moderator/user relationships. If there are multiple forums, it only brings into question which posts belong where. Someone may post something that someone else feels doesn't belong in that forum and, next thing you know, someone is complaining about that thread being in the wrong forum, the mod is moving people's threads, etc.. The NPR section has, in my opinion, done more harm than good in that regard. No one really wants to post in the NPR forum if they have something that they want to get read. In contrast, as soon as someone posts something in the main thread that might not be "pool related", I suspect that the mod gets a bunch of PM's complaining about so-and-so's non-pool-related thread in the main forum. I think the easiest solution for filtering out unwanted posts is simply not to click on the ones you don't want to read.

Marissa's post certainly seems relevant to the General Board area. Good to see her posting about something related to pool for a change ;)

I was also thinking there should be a separate area for Technical and Drills type posts. So that less people will suffer headaches from accidentally stumbling across the ramblings of some of us physics geeks :D

I guess the General Area would be left for stuff like, who's the best in your state, tourney results updates, general going's on and queries about the pool world.

As it is now, I completely agree with you. But Imo the problem here is overzealous moderators micromanaging every thread. If a topic is blatantly NPR, then move it; if it dabbles even minutely in pool, keep it in the Main Forum.

If a thread is about a cue, I think it should be included in the main forum.

By the way, have you seen the diamond cue from Charlie Byrant? He bought the diamonds and asked Jerry to inlay them on his cue. It also features ivory scrimshaw(sp) with the picture of a hillbilly, and some other bells and whistles that I cannot remember.

You may want to talk to him about buying your own precious stone and having your favorite cuemaker to work on them.

The engraving can be done by most jewelers. Perhaps Dave can take it to a jeweler in his local area and have it engraved there for you. It is probably easier.

If you want your cue to be very personalized, you may consider having your name written on the forearm along with Dave's autograph and date such as "for Marissa, by Dave Jacoby, 22 Jan 2006."

Good luck with your new cue.

Out of sight out of mind.

But actually you are probably better off there since your post will stay near the top due to the few posters there. While here there have been so many posts/threads that it is impossible to keep up with all of them. Only the really dedicated (sick) will bother to read them all.

We need more people banned.

More posts deleted.

I want to suggest something......

Maybe it was originally posted in NPR ?

I can assure you, the only move I made was *from* NPR to the cue gallery.

I can't see that it was ever moved before I got to it.

Food for thought.

When I first saw it (with a couple of replies), it was in NPR. It's in Gallery now, but I think it should have been in Main to begin with.

Jimmy M. I don't take it as a flame. I don't become offended very easily. Infact it's hard for people to offend me because I do a great job of insulting myself.

I have frequented many different forums. Not just pool but cars, mountain biking, dogs, firearms, etc. Just an endless erray of things. And I like this forum very much. But the thing I noticed is there are a lot of people on this website. Which is good. Lot's of good information flows in here. Of course this being the internet with rampet anonymousity you do have to sift through a lot of the bull.

But I feel the forums could be broken down more. I work on pool tables and would not mind a section where someone can ask questions about pool tables. And at the same time share and recieve knowledge from other table mechanics.

A gossip section remove some of the "Whatever happend to "The Dude"?" posts or did you see Cletus at Billy Bob's Billiards Bar Pub and Grille entertainment center.

I also wouldn't mind seeing some Regional sections. I had that on one of my mountain biking forums and it was great. You can break it down to (United States) Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, West Coast, England and Others. That way we could ask questions about small local tournaments that do not matter to someone on the otherside of the world. Or local pool halls to play at.

They are just suggestions. Even if they are not completely or partially fulfilled it will not stop me from coming here. I'm always open to critiques. I hope everyone else is.

Why not just remove the NPR section....and add a "Ignor Thread" button...If you see a thread that does not interest you would be able to click on the "Ignore Thread" button...

If you can have a ignore botton for specific posters, I can't imagine it would be to hard to have a "Ignore Thread" button...

I personally think we should ban ALL COMPLAINERS! Let's begin with the passive agressive SHORT ONE! I ain't just talking about his "WANG" either.
I just had to get it out.
