Enjoy indeed! I remember a month ago someone was selling a Viking with Wico points, and they stated it might be a Spain. Sounded a bit far fetched to me, until you show the real deal. Another fantastic lesson learned. Thanks.

from my undrstanding wico was a company that made and sold blanks to cuemakers. i was told they sold all types of products, bob meucci was involved with this company before he was a cuemaker. also from my understanding some makers were concerned about the vynal veneers holding up over time so they wouldnt use them. ive seen palmers and viks and tikkler has a gus but thats all
interesting thing about this cue is its full spice so it seems burt made it but it does have vynal veneers. ive never seen another wico blank like this. any more info from maybe tate or joe v would be appreciated.
Thanks for the info, Dave. Interesting. Look how white the interior veneer still is. You'd think UV would act on the vinyl over time - if exposed much. Maybe not so much for discoloration, but more with shrinkage. That finish doesn't look to be stressed.

I will take more pics when I get it back. I am working on putting together the whole WICO story (or to the best of everyones knowledge). There is an excerpt in Spain's book. What I have gathered so far is that he invented the concept first through trial and error with epoxy. The problem with the epoxy was that it would bubble. He only made approximately 4 of these blanks and wasn't satisfied. He then went to the extruded plastic and made "several this way" How many I don't know. I am working on finding out. As I said if anyone has another it would be nice to see. Apparently he had various troubles with the veneers and decided to abandon the concept. He also like the glimmer of wood more. That is when he passed it on to Bob Meucci and Gordon Hart which used it extensively over the years. I have asked 3 knowledgeable cue people. Two of them said they have seen only one other and the third said he has seen several. I am still waiting to see pictures of others however. I can't begin to tell you how cool the veneers look for how old the cue is.

when you say one then several do u mean spains specifically or wico cues total

Spain says in his book he made "several" with the vinyl veneers before he abandoned the idea. When I say WICO, it is a brand name and the veneers on the Spain may be precursors to WICO points. I am still researching this. I know Viking and Meucci have been doing it for years. How many "several" is I don't know yet but I am working on it.

Wico was a company that sold pin ball machine parts, video game parts all the arcade stuff, they were in biz for years. It appears they have changed owners

Very nice cue....only ever seen one other Spain like this and it's been a long time ago up at the Derby.
