Will casino gambling hurt DCC action....

for sale!
As most of you know the Derby City Classic will be held in a Ceasar's Casino. I'm just wondering if the option between pool action and what ever game the casino offers will affect the pool at all? I know I have a past history of getting into win or bust matches with the casino. I know a room full of gamblers such as the DCC offers it will be difficult not to play more blackjack than pool. Or someone might get pumped up in the casino and decide to send it playing pool.
Just a thought. I know its gonna be fun regardless. Each year I look forward to it more and more. Maybe we can have an all round challenge, One Pocket, 10 ball, and Blackjack.

Yes

Yes it will - no need to struggle to match up. You got all the action you want without the I havent hit a ball in six months and I dont play pool anymore stories.

I dont think so. All of the leagues have national and regional tournaments at casinos and I still see plenty of action there. I think the majority of the action players would like their odds a little better on a pool table rather than a card or craps table. Just my opinion

You are dealing with an entirely different animal with the DCC players than with league players. Action players don't care where the action comes from & with non stop craps, blackjack, and hopefully poker... well you get the idea.

Poker is what I worry about most. Lots of our action players here in town went to poker, but we have had that conversation on here.
I can hear them now, "the hell with spotting you, I'm gonna play Hold em."

Gpeeeeezy, your avatar has the nicest azz in the galaxy.

Well there are big Pool Tournaments in both Vegas several times per year (BCA, ACS, etc.) Plus a Bar Box Championship in Reno Annually.

Maybe the people who attend those event can tell if they only GAMBLE on pool when at those events, or save some of their MONEY to place game of chance in the Casinos.

DCC in Casino

Hate to be so uninformed but is this the Ceasers in Vegas or another site?
Thanks

Used to be Caesars Indiana, I think, now Horseshoe Casino. Just across the river from Lousiville.

Does anyone know if the casino is going to try to take a cut of the action on the pool tables? Not sure how they could even pull that off, but it would certainly suck... bad.

yes it will. look at history and talk to any pool players who went to tournaments in vegas, lake tahoe, reno or atlantic city and you will hear stories of all the players going home broke because the casino got them. I remember listening to an accustats where they are interviewing a pinoy (might have been efren even) and they asked him how he was doing and he replied "too much casino".

It is what it is, and regardless I'm still going to the 2009 DCC. I expect the casino to beat me out of some dough while there. If you see me at the dice table, you will be looking at someone who is most likely stuck. I can never leave the dice table winner it seems.

black hole

I'm not a casino kind of guy myself but I can't remember hearing of any churches having bingo games at one. Casinos are black holes that take far more than they give back on any and every level.

I would think it would be both ways initially, but in the end, the casino wins.

I remember getting snowed in at the Trump 10-ball Challenge in Atlantic City, and roads and airports were closed down due to it being a state emergency.

Let me tell you!
When you are STUCK in a hotel casino, and the only other option is the Hooters, the buffet, and the pool room minis/action and the casino floor, it is ROUGH!

I know more people that went broke before the tournament even got started due to the fact that they had no where else to go, and the fact that the tournament was delayed. It was either eat, go gamble, or go look out the window at the unfinished BORGATA standing there in the middle of a blizzard.

But, on that same note, you had players pumping up at pool and losing at the casino, and players pumping up at the casino, and losing at pool.

But the casino is easier action. Not the WIN, but the actual action. You just sit there, and win and lose. No supreme effort needs to be made, which appeals to the lazy in all of us. That always wins out in the end.

Superstar, your description of the Trump 10 Ball tournament was spot on. I was one of the last vehicles on the road the night of the blizzard. I was thankful to make it to the tournament, unfortunately, only to find out the start was being pushed back due to the weather. The days spent locked up in that Casino broke me before the tounament even started. I did come away with one very memorable mini tournament experience. I knocked off Keith 7-0 in a mini (regret not using his famous line) that would have been priceless, took out Santos 7-4, then was crushed by that awesome stroke of Stalev.
Your post brought back both good and bad memories
Thank you, Dave

Do bears shit in the woods?????? Kill is the word not hurt<------mark my words.

this could become the biggest "Bitefest in the world" brutal just brutal.

the STUPID thing is I couldnt find anyone with enough balls to flip for $1000 last year at the DCC, yet the guys who are scared of that bet will go into a casino and blow their $$$ while getting he worst of it. Stupid stone suckers, after you live in Vegas long enough-you look at people in casions in a whole different ways-unless your degernate gambler. I have zero respest for people who "gamble" in casinos, your not gabling at all your just blowing your money.

God Bless the DCC....

I havent ever seen a tournment in a Casino with alot of action, And I have been to lots of them over the past 23 years.
