Will cues warp leaving them upright and not breaking them down.

On my 20x20 roller I have three cue holder pockets about 5 inches or so long. I have been leaving my break cue and player out the last few weeks in these pockets out of convenience. Should I worry about warping? I have heard about some cues warping on the wall not sure the validity and if those cues just sat without being played.....

Thanks
Brent

This subject has been discussed many times here over the years.
On the wall is the only way I have ever stored my cues. I have many and the straight cues have stayed perfect, the crooked cues are still crooked.
I collect modern cues but mostly vintage, so quite a few have a little character that they developed before I took them in.
Some are on cold outside walls and some are on walls adjacent to other rooms of my house and as far as I can tell none have ever changed straightness.

I hang my custom cues.

Even in the case I would say cues need to be stored vertically. When i think of storage i think of guitars. I keep them being held straight under their own weight. i have 50 year old guitars and 20 year old cues that i store vertically and they are straight.

i store my cue in my case, broken apart, with a joint protector on the pin. I do not worry about the orientation of the case, whether it is standing up against a wall or laying down. I do have two cues in a closet, just standing up resting against the wall, and am not really concerned about them warping. IMO the thing to worry about is leaving cues in hot/cold cars.

Climate has a role here as well. I own cues made by a guy in a humid region. One I purchased used from the southwest. It was warped badly.
After a few months in IL, it was almost completely straight. A few years after my move to AZ the cue developed the warp. I've moved back east and will check it in a couple months to see if it changed again.

Upright and leaning will. I have some cheap cues that came with my table on the wall that's been like that for 15 years or more, no problem and my players sat in the case for nearly 10 years before I started playing again, no problem

Upright and leaning will.
No kidding.
I once worked a club many years ago where I ended up in the office talking to the owner (an ex pool hustler). I notice a cue leaning up against the wall in a corner. I inquired about it, and the guy said he hadn’t touched it in years, but claimed it was a Balabushka! I was then anxious to check it out, and when I picked it up and finally sighted down it’s length, it looked like the curved cue from the ‘Shot In the Dark’ movie!

I do alot of bar stick cue tips, almost everyone is bent
Speaking of balabushka cues, I was in a small tournament out in a country bar and while the guy was racking he threw, I mean threw his cue on the table and it bounced and rolled across the table and stops with the signature up 😳, I don't know them well so no clue it's value but I mentioned to him he might have a very expensive cue, he says yeah I heard that before as he grabs it off the table 😂
