Will Somebody Please Put A Cue In His Hands???

Well, Brian, I have seen some twelve year-olds that had a sophisticated game.

But this four year old is amazing...especially to me...hell, I didn't learn to talk
till I was 17.......
...although some people say I've made up for it.:D

I'd say that is about as amazing as seeing a 10 yr old running 3-4 racks. Of Rotation. It would take most people 4 years to even start to sound like that if they had talent and started early, like at 6.

How young can a person play pool masterfully?

10, 11, maybe 12 years old? I don't believe I have ever seen anyone 12 or younger play pool what I would consider masterfully, though, it may have happened.

Alternatively, look at what this 4 year old does that had me saying "HOLY CRAP!"

Well the kid in your link is CLEARLY a prodigy. I would imagine a pool playing prodigy could play at an equivalent level to that piano playing as long as they were tall enough to really be able to get to the balls. So my answer would be maybe 6-7 years old. I just think a 4 year old pool player would be too small to be at the same level pool-wise as the piano kid you linked. And ya, that kid is freakin unreal. 5 years from now he will be world famous performing major concerts, guaranteed.

Loree Jon Hasson started at 4. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loree_Jon_Jones

This kid in the original posting is amazing. It will be interesting to see how he develops. When will one of these prodigies become the next Mozart?

I started early, picking locks at 10, burglaries at 12 and jail by 14. By 18 I had honed my locksmith skills and earned a 3 to 5 stretch in State Prison. It was there I expanded my career ideals to include stocks, bonds and investment portfolios. If I can get a few more people to trust me, I'll have a nice new Diamond table in my home in, well you don't need to know where.

It will take about 10,000 prodigies like this kid to generate one Mozart.

Mozart wasn't just a "playing prodigy"; more importantly, he was a composition prodigy. At 8 years old he understood the relationships between all the notes of all the instruments better than most composers do in their lifetimes.

If Mozart had just been a playing prodigy we wouldn't even know his name today. We remember him for what he wrote.

Agreed. People like Mozart, Leonardo Davinci, and Newton are one in billions if not trillions. Child prodigies can be veeery proficient at doing/imitating something but the 100% complete understanding of what they are doing is what separates a Mozart from a "regular" child prodigy.

Yeah Brian put a cue in his hands. Right now he's doomed to a life of satisfaction and creation and performances in front of large crowds that adore his talent and pay to enjoy it.

He could play pool instead.

So is Tiger Woods "just" a playing prodigy?

Thanks

yes Kev; I thought the same as I was posting this thread but had to keep it pool related, right?

satisfaction, steady money, fame, adoration...

who needs all that when frustration can be yours.

Wow

I know some 4 year older that can't even wipe their butts properly.

My Chinese is rusty, but I think at one point in the video he asks "daddy, can you unchain me from the piano so I can play with my friends now?"

Yeah, I'd venture that any golfing prodigy is just a "playing" prodigy (same with pool) because there's only 1 golfer, 1 ball and 1 landing spot. If golf required that he direct 104 golfers to shoot at the same time and land in 26 holes (assume 4 balls per hole)...then he'd be a composition prodigy.

I've seen someone this young run racks out here there dad was an ex pro! They play at his pool hall and everyone who sees them play there jaws drop! I've even seen guys leave and not even wanna play tournaments cuz of them! Last time I seen them was about month ago there bigger now but I was talking to there dad buddy! Said in the tournament he has them ranked as 8s to make it fair I just could not help but laugh

Some time ago the exhumed Mozart. When they opened the lid, they found that he had a sheet of music in one hand and an eraser in the other.

One of the people asked what that was all about. Another person stated that he was decomposing.

That young fellow is phenomenal. As someone mentioned, there is no doubt that he will be doing recitals in a few years and probably making a ton of money before he reaches adulthood.

I don't think you'll ever see him with a cue in hand. Or his parents allowing him to participate in any sports that might injure his hands.

And all the women in my extended family are accomplished pianists but that was after many years of forced lessons by the old Nuns.

We were visiting some friends one afternoon. They had a piano in the living room. My wife sat down and played Fur Di Lis. Probably didn't even spell it right.
I was shocked. She had never told me.

Still, they couldn't even come close by a hundred country miles to this young guy.

did you mean

Fur Elise by Beethhoven ?

I learned it when i was 8 or 9 and can still play it 30 years later, pretty much note for note. it's a fairly difficult piece for many, so if your wife played it, she's was/is probably a fairly accomplished pianist.
