After the first days of 50% and under humidity here in Tampa, FL my table played like a new table. Banks, draw, and 3 & 4 rail position was a snap. I can't enjoy playing on the table when the humidity rises over70%.

I don't have a room big enough for the table indoors and I can't spend 10 to 15K to close the patio up with the economy the way it is right now. My question is if I build or buy a kit and insulate a 14' X 20' low roof shed type structure, will one of these floor model or window type AC units keep the temp around 70 to 75 degrees and the humidity 60% or under? dont think so

A small AC unit will keep that room cool but I dont think it will lower the humidity.

I think you need what is called an air handeler AC unit.It will have a condensation drain that can be piped away from the building.

I am by no means an expert this is an educated guess.

Works for me

It works for me with a 12'x20' higher roof style. I started with the Dutch barn style plans, raised the sidewalls to six foot, and only put in a four foot wide insulated steel door and the window opening my AC unit sits in. 220V AC's are usually more energy efficient so it is a medium sized 220 unit but it was under five hundred dollars and a lot more AC than I need. The walls and ceiling are insulated, the flooring isn't. Better to insulate the floor too but I was lazy there.

I'll have to dig a little but I can fax or mail you plans and material lists for any of the small buildings if you decide to build. I beefed mine up considerably with extra pads, sills, the steel door, and insulation. It is a shop so it is fully wired too. Total cost was under $5000 about two years ago doing all work myself. (Probably 95% of the work to split hairs but the other labor was free.)

Thanks Hu, but I'm either going build one a lot cheaper than that or buy a kit. I don't really care what it looks like, it's going in my patio. I could care less what the people with houses around me think either. They all think I'm a criminal anyway. When I first moved in the guy next door came over and said my fence needed replacement. When I told him I'd do it when I felt like it he gave me a bunch of lip. I told him I just got out after serving 4 years for manslaugter and I'd be glad to do another 4 years after I did him. That was 10 years ago. He's never bothered me again. When we're both out in the yard he never even looks over at me...he's a good boy. Johnnyt
 
Could be done easily

No question that price could be beat easily if it was on a slab and looks didn't matter. I used heavy cedar siding, 30 year fancy shingle roof, 1-1/4" subfloor and all stainless fasteners which added up pretty good. Five twenty foot oversized sills weren't cheap either.

That's funny! If you mow your grass with that pistol in your hand I can see why he wont look your way.:smile: Maybe if a few of us go to Amazon and buy your book you can just enclose your patio. Good luck with your decision I am off to AMAZON.

I'll do dishes, wash, cook, I'll even do windows, but I don't do ANY type of yard work. That's what landscapers are for. Johnnyt

hey johnny I built a pool room for my pool table I started out with a metal gurage you see them everwhere the cost of them mow is about 700 I then closed in the sides and ends put a drop celling and two windows insulated the walls with one inch 4x8 styphone ins use a 4000 btu ac. Gas heater or you can use a carseine heator had some problems with huminaty but got a dehumitafier took care or problem did most of the work my self total cost about 3000 everthing I spend a lot of time there the metal gurages I used was the 20x20 shell type works fine just use your imagation
