I would like to get a small lathe but I only need to install a few tips of my own.

Have you guys had any experience with the Williard tipper? Someone mentioned to me that it doesn't work that great with layered tips...I did do a search but found allot for sale, nothing on working with layered tips.

Can anyone share some insight on this?

I used mine for almost 5 years and have done alot of Talisman tips with it. Worked just fine. Only problem was not to trim down too far and knick the ferrule. It is still for sale by the way if you want one.

And as far as nicking the ferrule, it has an adjustment screw for depth to avoid this. You just need to learn how to use it. Practice on a cheap cue first, until you get the feel for it.
