Willie Mosconi Instructional

In the future, maybe an opportunistic wealthy collector will use a time machine to go back and inform Mosconi. Better yet, trade Mosconi's Balabushka with a Joss N-7. In filming the Color of Money, the producers didn't trust Tom Cruise with a real Balabushka so they gave him a Joss instead. :D

Had George Balabushka also knew, he would've charged more than $75-$150 for his cues.

At the time, I bet he didn't know he was using an $80,000 cue :yikes:

At the time, it wasn't LOL

The guy that pitched the record breaking home run ball a few years back did not know he was throwing a .5 million dollar ball either ;-)

Since Willie recommends hitting as softly as possible, the shortened stroke serves the purpose. :D

Willie's stroke was anything but 'shortened', esp on shots where he
broke the rack, his follow thru was a mile or two.

Misc ramblings.

Willies "favorite" cue was his Rambow.

He used Champions - like everybody else in those days.

The cue in the pics is not the cue in the video.<upon further investigation, seems it is the same cue>

Plenty of players got down lower than a Snooker Champion. Straight Pool
players tended towards the more upright stance.

Luther Lassiter - much more of a 9 ball wizard than a 14.1 player
also stood upright and held the cue at the front of the wrap.

Now says video unavailable. I think I saw this many years ago, in fact, I saw Willie in person several years before the video was made. I think this video is from the mid 1980s.
He didn't really explain much.

At one time, the Rambow I am sure was his favorite, as a Rambow, when Mosconi was competing, was about the only good cue around. However, still having Rambow cues at this time, videos of him after George's time, Mosconi almost exclusively had his Bushka in hand.

And to say the cue in the video is not Mosconi's Balabushka is inaccurate.

You are correct, sorta - I had remembered the pearly Plamer looking ring
as being in the butt sleve.

When the Glen brothers came to Philly to get the Bushka. This was 86-ish,
during Grady and Pete Fusco's 'One Pocket Philly Style', Denny told me
Willie preferred the Rambow over any and all other cues.
Maybe that was because it had run 526 "officailly".

Maybe the Glenn brothers bought another Bushka of Willie's in 86-ish as he was known to have a few. The Bushka in that video was just auctioned off a year or so ago by Willie's family in an undisclosed auction, and was Willie's personal playing cue for a long time according to his son.

Perhaps you could point out to me exactly where I said he didn't play with
the Bushka.

Playing cue.

Favorite cue.

Rocket science it is not.

I just pointed out the cue in the video was in fact the Bushka that is seen in the photos. And the one he played with most often in this time period.

Which I acknowledged, did I not? - are you now trying to say you didn't
obsess over which cue was his favorite?
