Willow Hoppe Brunswick

Pic of screw

The last Hoppe I had had a star screw. This one has a straight screw which might be older?

Thanks. I will read that. But from the first Hoppe cue I found, I seem to have learned that during WWII brass was replaced with something else during the war years. Copper was used before the war.

Yes the early Hoppes(41 to 44) had a joint that was made of a black material, I'm guessing the same fiber substance that the butt caps were made from. To my knowledge copper was never used on Brunswick cues.

They only did that for one year, actually. 1942. 1941, 1943, and 1944 were all brass again. Then the decal changed in 1945.

Good to know. I have a very early Hoppe and I am sure it was made during the war. I always wondered about the years when brass was and was not used.

Here is one after Guido Orlandi got thru with it.
