I just wanted to let everyone know we are still around. I haven't seen any of you 14:1 players in quite a while. I think I know why and I understand. When you guys first started coming in back in April and May of 2012 we had just opened up a couple months before. Just in time for the slow season for bars and things were very tough. We had good food but poor service. The problem with being a new place that isn't real busy yet is the quality of employees available. Really good servers and bar tenders normally already have good jobs making good tips and Witten's was not necessarily that place back then. We limped through the summer of 2012 without good wait staff or enough air conditioning. I went back to my day job in June 2012 so I could pay my bills and fortunately we made it through the offseason and as soon as October came around business really started to pick up. November was better, December even better, and then January we were finally doing well enough I could leave my job again and focus solely on Witten's Grill. We started opening for lunch in January 2013 and business has just been getting better and better. Our sales now are a little more than triple what they were back in the summer of 2012 and now Witten's is the place to work because if you're a good server you'll make real good tips at Witten's now. I am very proud to invite Y'all to come back and apologize for our shortcomings in the early months. We are light years ahead of where we were when y'all were coming in last spring and summer. I just had all the tables recovered 6 days ago and they are way, WAY better than before. When an "un-named" local Brunswick dealer set those tables up for me originally they told me that Simonis doesn't make 860 cloth anymore that they make some other grade that is more conducive to commercial use. I let them install and not only was the quality of the install poor the cloth didn't really play like simonis. It said Ivan Simonis right on the cloth so I felt good it really was Simonis. When I was online shopping for more simonis to recover I found 860 everywhere and it turns out that 860 is 90% Wool and 10% Nylon and this Simonis HR Commercial cloth is 70% Wool and 30% Nylon. Shane Dialed these tables in real tight. They play so well now and now they are well taken care of. We have someone that comes a few times a week and vacuums (even though Simonis says to only brush) and they are brushed daily. Anyway, I just want to invite you guys to start coming back again. We have a bigger and even better menu. We added our own recipe Orange Chicken Dinner and Spicy Honey Mustard Chicken dinner that are off the hook good. I am so proud of those two new items along with our great Cuban sandwich, Burgers, Chicken Pasta, and tostada nachos are all my favorites on the menu. Everything made in house. Remember we are in Hurst which is a 51% Food 49% liquor city. We have to sell more food than alcohol which will never happen if our food isn't good. I would also like to see if there is any interest in starting a 14:1 league at Witten's or maybe tournaments or something. I loved watching you guys play. Might be time for me to quit playing 9 ball and learn how to play 14:1 Hope to see you guys soon! Thank you, Richard Witten
