Sherm, did you know that Jeannie had many runs over a 100 balls and a high run of 152! She beat a lot of top Straight Pool players in 14.1 events. I think she played as well as she needed to win against the other women. If she had to pick her game up a notch she could and did. In the few open events she played in she defeated guys named Mizerak, Hall, McCready, Lebron and David Howard. This is when these guys were at the top of their game!
I watched Jeannie play quite a bit and she was the real deal, the equal of the top women players today imo. She wouldn't be able to dominate women's pool like she did in the 80's, but at her best she would still be capable of winning a tournament. She had a big game, a big stroke and most importantly a lot of heart. Jeannie was a winner! She didn't get weak under pressure, she got better!
Well, Jay & Johnnie, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. IMHO, Jeannie was a great player, especially for her time. And she was a hell of a shot maker. I saw her beat The Miz at the infamous Toledo tournament at the
"Tamoshanter Center", but that tournament was a disaster. Whoever scouted the location did so in the winter time for a summer tourney. There was no air conditioning in the building (which no one noticed until tourney time) and
it was over 100 degrees in the building. The Miz never had a chance in his condition compared to a young, fit athlete like Jeannie. Funny thing was it didn't bother "Swannie"! He shot a perfect 1000 Accu-Stats match at the
same tourney. Guess he was more used to the hot weather. I know that on my best day, I could not have beat Jeannie and I had a high run of 122 at straight pool, but IMHO Jeannie just didn't play the position and angles nearly
as well as Allison and some of the top ladies today. She'd beat most of them but, but not the top echelon. Again, JMHO !
