Women v Men - Case Closed?

I see what your saying Donovan but a year will definitely give us a better picture than one tournament.

Well, yes, that is for sure! Well said!

Has Cuetec ever tried to put their two players on a challenge table?

It is not just men vs women; it is the best man vs the best woman. It is also stone cold perfect mechanic vs chaotic unorthodox emotional at its extreme!

My friend Royce and I have been discussing the IPT, he says wait a few to several years. I see his points in all of this. When all the road players and hustlers and gamblers find out how much money can be made on the IPT then and only then will you see the best. One year, come on, we already know all the names there and their reputations, but who's out there right now hustlin that we don't see on the list. I could name a few people that could be on there, and I'm sure I don't know alot of people that will be on there. Remember there's alot of kids out there on the road shooting lights out and alot of "unknowns."

The whole sexual preference thing had no place in this discussion. Sexual preference has nothing to with how well you play.

Pool is an all year sport, other sports are seasonal allotting more time for families and such. Not to mention that pool is not bringing in 50 million dollar salaries either.

I agree

Given Allisons and Karen's impressive results is the case now closed, and does this mean all the other women below the top few women have no excuse and should be raising their game?

This for me is conclusive proof, i also have been saying this for years. Allison Fisher and Karen Corr are living proof that women do not suffer any disadvantage.

They are both capable of beating anyone. The myth is now blown with the IPT allowing them to compete on an even keel.

I would love if oneday a woman was to win a IPT tournament, can you imagine what Mr Trudeau could do with that.

Women have never really been given a chance in pool to prove themselves against the men. They now have. Even so they are still a minority on the IPT.
However IMHO the best 2 female players of this generation are there. They both have probably waited all there careers to get a chance like this and probably thought it would not come, good luck to them both.

Womens pool could rise and rise if they excell, i have to say that i do not expect the other women to do so well as these two. I would expect Karen & Allison to keep there cards this year but i would not expect the rest.

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but ... how do you know? Sexual orientation is simply a variable, the same as gender, age, weight, etc.

To exclude it just because it's not a politically correct subject is wrong.

Now, with that said, sexual orientation may indeed have absolutely nothing to do with how well someone can play pool. Until you can point us towards a scientific study proving this, it's a fair topic.

OK I will go ahead and say what no one has said in this thread yet.

Is it any coincidence that the top women players seem to always be lesbians?

It's been said before, maybe not in this current thread, bit plenty of times before.

It might be an athletic and testosterone level thing (which seems to be a plausable advantage).

I know it has been said before, but I'm going to say it again. It is history and how women have been treated for thousands of years. It's changing but it isn't there yet.

Take a 14 year old girl, cut her hair and send her to the pool hall. Tell her to make everyone think she is a boy. Hopefully for this experiment she won't bloom to much. Now she can learn to play pool without any teasing or derogatory remarks about being in the pool hall or how a girl is expected to play. If the talent was there to begin with 20 years later she can compete with the men with no problem.

How ever since we haven't come far enough to treat them equally, chance will find a few ladies that can play. But the draw backs of the derogatory about pool halls will keep to many of the girls that do happen to have the talent, away from the pool hall to begin with.

If the break is the downfall then women should excell at 14.1 (straight pool), one pocket and golf.

I think this is a really good point.

What is the high run for a women in competition? I think it's like 67 or something (Striking Viking). Now I know that there aren't many 14.1 tournaments now-a-days, but still - 67.

Straight pool is the perfect equalizer game as it takes the power break out of the equation. How many female pros have run 100? From what (little) I know it's less than 10-15.

I will say its your ignorance or you are just very young.Sexual preference has nothing to do with men vs. women.Period. Look at Emille Griffith, for you children who are to young to remember he was light heavyweight champion who was and still is very gay .he also killed Kid Benny Peret in the ring.Iguess that blows your sexual theory.
You all need to grow up and realize that there is no difference on the table between sexes.Theres just so many more guys that of course men will shoot better but in time that will change.Look at golf where the lady just competed with the guys and made a good showing and that does take muscle.
lets put this thread to bed.:D

I think your missing the point, Uwate was just asking if it's just a coincidence that there are a large number of women pro's in the top 32 that are lesbians.
Or by being a lesbian does it make a difference when playing pool, maybe a tougher or less feminine approach to the game.

I don't know, but I think it's a valid point.
