Women's 14.1 High Run

This is the only information that I have. Any and all help if anyone knows different please post the womens runs over 100 if you know. Also if anyone has a way to contact Jean Balukas to kindly ask her what her high run is that would be great. I gotta think Jean's high run could be higher.

what such research paper if i might ask?

With apologies, I found it and will share, but my memory failed on one issue after eleven years. It is a Golf Digest article that reads somewhat like a research paper but it is not a peer reviewed article. I was reading research articles for a paper when I read this, so it is in that file in my brain.

But, to pat myself on the back a bit, in rereading the article now, I am happy that I represented the thrust of the article very well.

I think the most pertinent parts are under the subsection "The Matter of Motivation."

Great analogy. And given that Fargo Ratings come from games of 8-ball, 9-ball, and 10-ball only (not 14.1), it would be like using one mile and 5K results to make predictions about marathon success.

Do I generally like the better 5K runner to do better in the marathon? Sure. Am I positive about it? Nope. Does the size of differential matter? Yep. I'll take the 14:00 5k guy over the 21:00 runner any day. The 16:40 guy and the 17:00 guy? That could go either way over 26.2 miles.

Another way to look at it: one guy might be a great orthopedic surgeon but you don't want him performing open heart.

I have asked Jean in the past what her high run is and she said 134.

Ok Thanks for your reply Stu. Its hard to believe but she is like 99% of pros that play straight pool as why ever try unless its financially worth it. I sincerly hope to change it all real soon.

Is Balukas even playing anymore?

Very unlikely. Jean has barely played in the last twenty five years, but often played in the Thursday night tourney at her family's room, Hall of Fame Billiards in Brooklyn NY, which typically meant not much more than an hour and a half of actual playing. Now that Hall of Fame Billiards has closed permanently, the smart money says she doesn't play at all. That said, however, I've not seen Jean in over three years.
