So at our local "series end" tournament, there was a Break and Run pot, up to about $200.

We tried and tried, but the table wasn't giving it up.

FINALLY I made the 7&8, got this layout, and had a chance. I did NOT make it easy on myself, and getting a little out of line forced myself to shoot several hard shots to get out.

Woulda coulda...

This was where I WANTED to go from the 1 to the 2, but I'm a lefty and was stretched trying to thin that 1 in and get started.

IF I had gotten here on the 2, the rack should have been pretty easy.

Instead, I hit a little jab of a stretch stroke, and did this... and that 6 ball is in play, and actually looked HUGE to me, like anything I did would end up all over it.

I also gave up the option of just popping the 2 in and drifting to the "proper" side of the three. All in all that stretched "jab" at the 1 made for tough going.

Ya see that box in the middle of WEI? CB in that box on every shot and you'd be golden.

Good shot on the 1- as you know- gets the cashish!

So I slow roll, "heavy ball" the 2 in, and rrrrrrrrright past my shape on the short side of the 3. Great, now what.

CueTable Help

Rather than thin cut the 3 in the corner, I chose to cut the 3 in the side, and spin off the 9, which should put me back on line towards the 4.

The ball did exactly what I hoped it would, only I hit the 9 pretty full, sending it up to almost mid table, and slowing my CB down to a crawl. I ended up lazer straight on the 4, over a pocket, length of the table diagonal. Grrrrrrrrrreat.

Unless your diagram is off, this was not the way to play this shot. Jack up and knock the 2 in low and firm, getting to the short rail and back out (maybe catching the long rail, maybe not) for the 3 in the upper right. Whatever angle you get on the 3 (including straight) is something you can easily work with.

So I didn't get cute on the 4, just tried to focus on center ball, and plug it in.

I stopped my ball there, again, not wanting to juice it that length, and was expecting the cut I got on the 5.

CueTable Help

I ended up really straight, but juuuuuuuust on the wrong side of the 6, to where if I "pop" it, I will drift to the rail, and be shooting a cut into the side for the pot.

Instead I chose to "drag" the CB, slow speed, little draw and let it follow an inch or two.

CueTable Help

I still ended up with a cut, but a comfortable bridge, and ugly as it was, I got out. :happydance:

Now I see why your username is DirtyPool. ;) Nice out, congrats!

Ever since 3rd grade when I shot a spit ball at Mrs Detweiller's huge ass, I've been out of line too. Your out reminds me of my typical outs!

Thanks! The punchline is that after like 40+ tries I get out.... and so does the 2nd to last guy in the list, so we split it. Still I left with $100 I didn't come in with so it's a good night for me!

I agree, and that's what I wanted.

I am not great at the WEI table, but the angle was thin enough I was going down table and I was close enough to the rail I didn't really have the bottom of the CB or the accuracy I wanted.

The shape on the two in the first diagram is exactly what you're talking about, and maybe without the STRETCH on the 1 I woulda coulda got there.

Nice out, I would have played the 3 in the bottom right corner from there and went down table and to the center with the rock, just my preference though.

Hit the one with a tad of inside roll up and down, many more options unless you roll way to far.

That was option #1 and a little "thicker and I would have too. I am just not "seeing" those shots well lately, and tough as it looks, jamming the 3 in the side, looked higher % to me.
