Just had my third lesson with Jerry Briesath a few days ago in Madison, WI. I posted here about my first lesson.

So I have this Olhausen table with nasty corner pockets. They're double-shimmed with some sort of material that's harder than cushion material. (Dealer saw a sucker coming and stuck me with this B#$!% without telling me, then wouldn't take it back. Screwed me big time. But I digress.)

Anyway, it's tough to string a run together on my table because the corners will rattle a ball out if you look at 'em wrong.

So tonight I ran the whole table!!! For the first time.

And I've only been playing pool for five months.

These lessons have helped me improve much faster than I would have otherwise. Granted I have a long way to go, can't even practice all that much because of work.

I have no connection to Jerry other than as a student, but let me say this, if you have any way to get to Madison (for about the next month--he leaves for Phoenix AZ after that) you gotta treat yourself to a lesson from this guy. I can almost guarantee he will help you improve a lot faster than you would have otherwise. His number is 608-279-9994. Call the dude, you will not regret it.

These lessons have been the best money I've put into any recreational activity in a long time.

Damn good job. I'm still just one shy of a full rack. ;)

I've never had a lesson in my 60+ years that I played, but if I ever got one it would be from Jerry. He has help some become pros and some pros to get even better. He's no BS and no gimmicks. Johnnyt

Full rack of nine ball ? (Break & Run or BIH after break for playing the ghost ?)

Very nice in either case - my best is 2 (or maybe 3?) balls short of running the rack v's the ghost in 10 ball. (my average for 10 racks is a different sad story lol. 30 something from memory...)

Cheers.

Sorry, should have been a bit more clear. I was playing Equal Offense so I threw all the balls out on the table and took ball in hand to start. Not quite as hard as playing from the break.

My best run practicing 9-ball so far was break-thru-4, then missed the 5 about 3 times, then ran 5-thru-9. That was pretty good but the balls were being good to me on that occasion.

Jerry even called me up today to see how I was doing and to make sure I wasn't having any problems. Pretty cool of him.

Yeah and he works you pretty hard too. The lessons last about 4 hours with a break for lunch but by the time we're done, I'm really ready to stop. He challenges you mentally as much as anything--lots to remember on each drill. I'm kinda zapped by the time we're done.

Jerry helped me win a mini-one pocket pool tournament against some of the best players in the world. The lesson was short and sweet. I asked him to tell me what I was doing wrong and after hitting three balls, he told me he thought that he might know. I was skeptical. I should not have been. He was right. One of the best nights of pool in my entire life.

I don't keep up on the BCA Hall Of Fame so some one please correct me if I 'm late with this.

Mr. Jerry Briesath will most probably be in the BCA Hall of Fame one day.

So...a lesson from a future Hall Of Fame Member sounds pretty good to me.

Eye Patterns were off. Now send my paypal account half of what I paid.
$50 will be good.

Jerry is awesome! First lesson I ever took was from him after I was already a strong B player. He helped me elevate my game in just a few weeks of practice, the advice was subtle yet dead on.

Great teacher and super nice guy, other than Hunter Lombardo the best teacher I've met.

Joey,

Funny that it was related to the eyes as I just noticed last Tuesday that I am now looking at the CB during the stroke after 46 years of looking at the OB during the stroke.

But only when I'm using TOI. I have an idea why. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Best,
Rick

I spent a weekend with Jerry at his old CueNique room in Madison back in 1989. It was well worth it! Jerry is an awesome teacher and a great guy to boot!!! I would encourage anyone who has an opportunity to take a lesson from him to do so regardless of your current skill level.

Just remember if you take a lesson and Jerry responds to one of your statements and bellows, "FANTASTIC!", it just might not be so. :D

Another favorite,"A wet bird, don't fly at night." What many may not know know is that Jerry Briesath is an expert marksman with a Varmint Rifle.

I just put the Jerryism I hear most often in my sig.

Another plug for Jerry--I'm probably a bit too much of a beginner for him but he never makes me feel that way. Another sign of a gifted teacher.
