Wood and maybe cue identification help please

Good day everyone,

I would like to ask for some help in identifying the wood used in this cue and perhaps the maker as well - should anyone have any guesses.

What I know about the cue is that it was purchased from a local billiards shop back in 1993-94, it has four sharp points - from the feel of it I'd say it is short spliced not full-spliced -, a flat faced white phenolic joint with a brass insert in the shaft and a wood used for the shaft that is on the better side that I have seen. My guess is that it was made somewhere overseas maybe? I'm basing that on the looks of the butt cap. Finally, the cue appears to have an oil-ish finish on it - as far as I can tell from the looks and the feel of it.

I'd like to know all this because this is the cue I've been playing with lately - as I have absolutely no cues for pool and am waiting for my player's to arrive which is still a couple of weeks.
So, like I said, I was playing with this one and really liked it because it played solid and sporty when it came to shots that need a better feeling cue. Also, it seems to have some work put into it with the inlaid slot rings at the joint (they line up) and above the butt cap.

Actually, it strongly reminds me of a Szamboti cue and after some better shots I was always smiling and telling my friend - the owner of the cue - that I am missing the G.S. from the butt cap :) [of course there are a few miles between this cue and a true Szamboti but it was fun]

I knew I saw a Gus Szamboti cue that was very similar to this - colour of joint, type of wood in the forearm, rings, colour of wrap... Well, here it is - I don't want to use the picture without permission so here is the link to the picture of the cue at classiccues.

As for the wood, I believe you are right as well, that Szamboti has a very similar looking wood - both colour and grain matches - and that is Rosewood.
 
My guess is 80's-90's chinese import from Competition Sports, could be one of a dozen or so brands made in the same factory, and the wood is East Indian rosewood. That's my guess.

Not sure really, also the cue here looks to be full spliced. If it's not marked it could be almost impossible to tell.

Thank you all for the replies. Absolutely no need for sorry - but thanks for your kindness - as I was rather sure about the cue being made overseas (as stated in the first post) and just wanted to show it and ask around about what you'll know.

I am sure that this is a non-brand cue, I mean it cannot be a Meucci, Heubler and especially not a Kornele but that is not because your guesses are wrong but because in the early '90s in Hungary there were absolutely 0 cues like that - not even now do players know these makers (except Meucci).

But I am glad to hear all the guesses and also glad that some of you liked this cue. I got used to it and really like it :)
