Wood ID probably from Philippines

I bought out the wood inventory from the shop of the late Ronnie Powell of Q Perfect Cues. He formerly built cues in the Philippines. There are several woods I cannot identify. But one that there is a lot of is Orange. Close to the color of Paduak but with prettier grain, but it is a heavier denser wood more in the weight range of Bocote. And the grain is fairly smooth unlike Paduak. I am guessing it is a common wood in the Philippines. Any ideas?

Wood

It's Narra wood Chris. I'm married to a Filapina. She says it's the national wood of the Philippines. It's great for cues. One of my favorite woods...

Narra wood

Here is some Beeswing Narra wood that I have in my shop. It smells like pepper.

Thanks for the information. It looks like one wood mystery is solved. I will try to post pictures of other woods in the future once I get all this sorted out. Ronnie had a lot of wood. It will take me another trip to get it all. I took a pick up and should have taken a trailer.

Nice. Narra bees wing is my new choice since they've been pretty much robbing us on Amboyna.

Late? Do you know this for sure? I havent talked to Ronnie for several years. I know he had some health issues and moved back to USA. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

The Narra pictures above do not look as much like this wood as some pictures I looked up of Philippine Mahogany. He has some pieces marked "mahogany" and they are slightly tan colored. These are marked "Red" but look like the Mahogany as far as the wood itself does, but is a different color than those just marked Mahogany.

Could be kamansilles... bears a fruit called kamansi that's cooked more like a vegetable. One of the few fruits I know where you eat the "seeds." I might actually have a small board here that I brought back.

It is most likely all Narra as I found some pieces marked Red Narra. It is in the weight range of the lighter wide grain Bocote. Has anyone ever used any of this with the little pin size holes where some insect bored. It looks cool and I have about a dozen full length butts like that. The newest of this wood it marked 2010 so it has been cut and turned round at least that long.
